Hey all,

Need opinion. I got a quote for Ceramic Pro Gold Package (XL) (Polish+Coat) for my Land Cruiser. Lifetime warranty.

FIRST WASH STAGE
▪pH Neutral Wash + APC to Aide in Wax/Sealant removal
▪Bug/Tar/Sap Removal
▪︎Wheels & Tires Degrease and Prep

DECONTAMINATION STAGE
▪︎Iron-X: Chemical Decontamination of Paintwork ▪Clay Bar: Physical Decontamination of Paintwork ▪︎RO/Distilled/Equivalent Rinse & Dry, Water Spot Removal/Reduction

PAINT ASSESSMENT STAGE
To Determine Level of Paint Correction Needed, if any

SURFACE PREP FINAL STAGE
▪︎Solvent Bath of All Paintwork & Trim to be coated
▪︎NANO PRIMER applied with machine polisher on all paintwork

COATING INSTALL STAGE
▪︎4 Layers of "9H" on Paintwork & Trim
▪︎1 Layer of "Top Coat" on Paintwork & Trim ▪︎2 Layers of "Glass" on Exterior
Windows and Mirrors
▪︎1 Layer of "Wheel and Caliper" on Wheel Faces

Curing Process - 72 hours initial cure, with first 12- 24 hours recommended stay at coating location.

Total price: $1100.

Annually, $95 for inspection, glass coating, and coating booster.

The guy is reputable. 5-star reviews across the board.

I have never done anything like this to my car.......so, is this a good deal??

If the guy has been in business for at least 10 years (you dont get the feeling that he isnt going anywhere anytime soon) and you plan on keeping the vehicle for awhile then it seems worth it. The up front price seems a little high though
 
$1100 is not bad for a full detail and ceramic coating. That said, it is not so clear what they will be doing in regards to the most important step of all...the polishing. It is a guarantee that they will perform this (says if needed)? Will it be a one-step, two-step, three-step process? For that price I would want whatever is needed in your specific case to get out close to all swirls and marring before coating. Also, looks like the wheels are coming off as it mentions 'calipers' to be coated, but why arent they then fully doing the rear side and barrels both de-conned and coated?. Are all the jams being done, under hood and hatch, behind gas filler door, etc?

For that price I would buy all the tools necessary to do this myself...

...and have the ability to do multiple vehicles in the family stable going forward for minimal additional cost ex labor. I know you are a busy guy and this will take you perhaps over 20+ hours if you DIY, so it is worth it for you to get it done comparatively speaking, but it may not come out as good as you could have done yourself and once coated there wont be anything you can do at that point to correct.

Best of luck with the Land Cruiser, is it new? Do you have a post on it? I have been offline for a bit and may have missed it.

Yeah, i simply don’t have time. For my job, time is money…so, in this case, i rather just pawn it off to someone who can do it. The guy has very good reviews.

its good stuff, the guy I know, he says you take the vehicle back a couple of days so they can do some touch up if needed.

paint correction is needed before application. hope your guy applies to everything, including wheels.

Coats the paint = easy to clean bugs off, protects paint (no need to wax), quick car washes since everything just slides off.

Coats the windows = it is like Rain-X effect. Don’t need to use wipers much apparently.

“Lifetime” durability but at a cost (see annual cost).
 
Just an update. I will go for it. Talked to the detailer…he will do BOTH my LC and my wife’s GX for $1500. Yeah, with that deal, i cannot turn it down. Same GOLD package / lifetime warranty for both cars.
 
Since you live on the opposite side of the country, I'd wager it's not the same guy, but I had that done on my 99 4Runner. He charged $700.00, and will return every other year for $100.00, IIRC.It's a great coating, IMHO.

I especially like what it does to the windshield and windows for water repellancy. Bugs as well, just wipe off with the wipers and a couple squirts of washer fluid. I drove in a few snow storms, and a couple rain showers, and it made it so I didn't have to use the wipers, except at stops. Once I got much over 20 MPH, the water just blew off. Yeah, I'd have to hit the wipers a couple times starting out from a stop, but while I was moving, I didn't at all. The water of a rain shower washed off the bugs, dirt, and bird poopies, with no intervention by me.

I really like it. Well worth the money I spent, IMHO.

How is the ceramic coating working out? I was looking into the clear film you can get put on , such as the front clip, quarter panels and mirrors. It's suppose to protect against rock chips, is the ceramic coating just so the vehicle stays clean? Your suv looks great by the way!! I love the color.

Yeah it is for easier to clean. Not to prevent rock chips. So far so good. Went thru rain storm and I did not even use wipers…water just went off my windshield. By time I got home, car was dry.
