I need suggestions!!!

I am going to Moab, Utah in March. I will have time to do one off-road. I have looked through several trails but cannot make up my mind. I can only do one so I want to do the most scenic and challenging trail (that I can do, I've got a stock runner) that there is. I was wondering if you guys had any suggestions! I have a 2006 Limited 4WD. Thanks all!

I wish you were lifted. Poison Spider is my alllll time favorite trail but no way in hell you could do it stock. And come to think of it, I dont think any trail I did you could run stock other than Baby Lionsback but that takes 2 minutes :lmao: and that would even be a little sketchy on the departure.

but I have only been to moab once but if you are able to find a trail suitable for stock instead of seeing these :girl: in your dreams, you'll see Moab.

Please post some pics! I would take mine but I have a 2wd, have high speed rated tires, and don't want to lift it. I might be thinking of another place but don't flip your truck on the devils back!:thumb3:

I took a trail in canyonlands NP last summer with my 4Runner and it was awesome. Posted pics on here too. I'll try to look up the trail for ya. It was the first off road access on the left hand side just after the ranger station entrance. I have a 08 4Runr, V6 4wd, Nitto Terra Graps but other than that I am stock. I did put it in 4lo, lock the diff, dont think I go with 2wd if u have. Other rigs on there were stock too, very little sandy stuff, dirt n rocks. FUN FUN FUN! Scary cliffs 2 feet away but fun!

Got it. White Rim trail Canyonlands Ntnl Park. It's not the Rubicon trail but with a stock rig I wouldnt do the Rubi. Canyonlands National Park - Auto Touring (U.S. National Park Service)
Copy/paste link into browser, on the page look at White Rim Road under four wheel driving. It will take a few hours- plan a bare minimum half a day. Bring water, no shade, drive carfeully, its a serious leap down the hill. Very narrow passing cause its really a one lane. I went down hill, you can go up but for me down was better. The trail ends around the salt farms/rail tracks. The views are amazing, spiritual, words dont do it justice. cant seems to dlaod pics. pm me if you want more info. good luck.

There is lots of stuff you can do stock in Moab and the Canyonlands NP. More than anything it depends on your skill and comfort level, and the amount and damage you are willing to risk. I think you'll find the 4Runner is not the limiting factor in your offroad adventures. Are you looking for Moab specifically, or are you willing to drive almost a couple hours to the Canyonlands? The Needle Distric (Canyonlands NP) is beautiful, and well worth a day trip from Moab. The White Rim Trail in Island in the Sky is more than a day trip I believe.

Around Moab there is Chicken's Corner, Bull Canyon and Gemini Bridges, which are all easy runs. I haven't done Chicken's Corner, but it is a popular one. Gemini Bridges is easy (not really challenging at all) but I didn't think it was anything special in terms of scenery. Bull Canyon is more challenging than Gemini Bridges, but still easy. There are a few fun obstables to play around with, but still not as scenic as Canyonlands.

Elephant Hill in the Needle Distric (Canyonlands) is about as technical as I think you would want to get stock. I haven't done it because I judged it to be too abusive to my 4Runner, but lots of people run it stock. Colorodo Overlook in The Needles is good fun, with a nice mix of challenging obsticals and mellow cruising with outstanding scenery. It is definetly doable stock but a good spotter and patients helps.

Do yourself a favor and buy this book. Amazon.com: Backcountry Adventures: Utah : The Ultimate Guide to the Utah Backcountry for Anyone With a Sport Utility Vehicle (Backcountry Adventures) (9781930193123): Peter Massey, Jeanne Wilson: Books I use the Arizona version and it is great. It decribes a lot of trails, how hard they are, senic rating, maps, gps info, time required etc. Well worth the money. I looked at the Utah version in hastings one day and I wish I would have had this book when I was in Moab several years ago. It would have saved me a lot of time. We did the trail from Canyonlands but did not go all the way back to Moab and it is great. There was another trail after leaving Canyon lands that head back toward the river. Ask the rangers about it. Tell them it is the one that you drive under a big rock from a rock slide and they will know what it is called. I do not remember but the rangers are the ones who told me about it. Also went down Kane creek trail toward Chicken corners. This trail is the starting point of many of the hardcore trails in the area. You will see metel signs describing the trails and the difficulty. you will not be doing anyoff these but take the time to walk some of them for 100 feet or so and you will wonder how any vehicle could possibly climb this stuff. Awesome beauty any where you go around here. I did all of these with my 4runner completely stock but tougher tires would be prefered in the rocks.
