Can anyone tell me if Toyota changed the wiring harness for the radio in the 4R from 1997 to 1998 or is it the same style?

The only changes I could see from 1997 to 1998 was the steering wheel. I don't think there were any major changes. I know the major changes came in 1999.

The 1998 4Runner is available in six models - the Base, SR5 and Limited in 2WD and 4WD. For 1998, all models feature revised dial type heating, ventilation and air conditioning controls, an additional power outlet in the cargo area and a redesigned steering wheel. A power rear window, side defrosters and reclining bucket seats are standard on all models. The Limited is available with leather seating surface, a leather wrapped steering wheel and four-way power front seats. Optional packages include the All-Weather Guard Package, the Leather Trim Package and the Power Package. All 4WD models feature an optional Limited Slip Differential and a One-Touch Hi-4 switch that allows the driver to shift into 4WD with the push of a button.
