How to get to the bulbs ?

Hello, I love what you did with the changing of the bulbs.
Aside from about 3 of them having died already, I've been wanting to switch them out for leds anyway.
Please tell me how do I get to removing. the lcd display and the air/heat controls. So far I've removed the little storage box and the bolt head screw, but am leery of pulling to hard.
Also, I need to know how to get to the Dash Gauges to replace the bulbs there as well.

If you use a socket wrench you can easily have the dash apart in 10 minutes.

LED dash/guage bulb list for 4th gen

Hey everybody. I am working on (slowly) putting together a detailed list of LEDs for my 2003 limited 4x4. Once I have the list together, I'll put it together in a way so you can easily order LEDs to replace your nasty orange bulbs. Feel free to remind me if i haven't produced a list and posted it here yet.

Ok i am joining this talk late, but none but one of my lights work behind my climate control unit. I can not find replacement bulbs. I am sure it is because I do not know where to look. Can anyone elighten me? 2000 4runner limited 4x2 I have an aftermarket radio so that is no concern. Also if there are more bulbs can I get different colors?

A link to someone else's disassembly. I have to replace some bulbs now, found this thread and thought his disassembly might help. Not really sure one needs to take off the cowling under the steering column yet -- might be able to start with the storage cubby part.

I replaced the LED behind the clock and MPG, as soon as I get it back in, the fan cluster is out. The arrow shows that indicates how high the fan is, but the other one doesn't work that shows the different levels of the fan. I saw the diagram, but am not sure which bulb that is. Is it the long yellow or long green?

Really old thread -- and I finally got around to ordering the '03 4runner led bulb kit from superbrightleds.com

Happy for the most part, but had some weird behavior. Like folks have posted elsewhere, polarity matters and it was hit/miss to get the LEDs to work at first. I bought the blue kit.

Two of these for the temp/clock backlight:

The backlight bulbs never worked when I seated them in either polarity -- or when I swapped them from the weak housing that comes with the neo3/4 bulbs and reused the original bulb housings. I may have fried part of the board when swapping out (I pulled the connector, but didn't disconnect the battery before disconnecting that harness). I was able to wire across the leads from the neo3 that lights the reset/mode button to feed the two backlight gauge bulbs. that did work. All of it looks sharp, but oddly the mode/reset area gets very warm to the touch.

Anyone else having heat issues from converting the LEDs? Seems like a short to me somewhere.
