Check engine light VSC &ABS lights all on

I have an 04 4runner Sr5 Sport. It has 141,000 miles on it. I love the truck but am really getting frustrated with these lights. To make a long story short, I have been having this same problem now going on two years. I've had it checked by three different mechanics and the dealer. None of them can figure it out. The mechanic I'm working with now suggest I call Toyota customer service for some answer. I figured if this is common to this model someone should know on this sight.
Work that has been done since it started;
Replaced all four oxygen sensors at least three times
Replaced MAF Sensor
Replaced spark plugs
Performed the zero calibration several times
Replaced intake manifold gasket
Check for exhaust leaks several times

Starts out with replacing passenger side after cat sensor then light comes back on with code to replace passenger before cat sensor light comes back on :wow:
Code to replace drivers side after cat sensor light back on you guessed it light back on code to replace drivers side o2 sensor. Replaced all sensors lights back on. Replaced all 4 sensors with OEM Sensors. Lights started all over again same sequence. Replaced MAF same thing

Is anyone having this problem? Mechanic thinks when the dealer flashed the computer they messed with the 02 sensor parameters. Any ideas

My worthless 2 cents are below:

It sounds to me like the speed sensor/abs sensor harness got damaged somehow. Find someone with a TIS/TechStream and go to the speed sensor output. There you will be able to see if all 4 are reading properly. If one is not reading check the harness, if all 4 are reading properly set the ZPC (Zero Point Calibration) with TIS. My 04 is very sensitive to voltage changes.

There isn't anything that the dealership could have done on their end to mess with the O2 parameters.

Do you by any chance have all the DTCs that were set?

I have a call in to the service manager to see if he has any ideas on what could cause this.
I am guessing that this is not something that is happening to this model year or there would be more complaints. I just dont want to keep throwing money at the problem by just guessing at parts. Could it be abs sensor causing a PO136 code?

Have you replaced the gas cap? When I first bought mine I this happen the first week and it ended up just being the gas cap.....

Just got off the phone with service manager and waiting to here back from him. He said he was going to consult with one of his lead mechanics.

I know you replaced all the O2 sensors, but are your cats still good? 141k miles on stock cats is a long time

After speaking to the service manager I got the same run around. You must replace the 02 Sensors with Toyota original equipment. OEM denso won't work properly.
Perform an ejector flush
Transmission fluid crept into wiring causing a short
So I spoke to my mechanic and mentioned all the above. He can't believe the OEM sensors from Denso are the wrong type.
The runner has know transmission leak
When we changed out all the sensors the mileage was at 21.9 gpm.
I came home and ran the obdII and notice the PO136 code was the problem so I checked the parameters and it was reading 99.9 on the chart which tells me the O2 sensor is not sending any signal. I believe I have a short in the wiring somewhere. Anybody else have any ideas?

Dropped truck off at mechanics. He's going to check for a short in the wiring to the sensor. I'll keep you posted.

Code PO136 & PO156 Solved

Sorry for the delay but I have good news.
My mechanic went over all the wiring and found nothing. He then checked all the TSBs Toyota had a specific one for all 03 & 04 4 runners that require using only Toyota 02 sensors for codes PO136 & PO156 these are the sensors after the cats.
My mechanic ordered the parts from the stealer ship for 199$ each.
He installed them free of charge since he already charged me once and it didn't correct the problem.
I've have a couple thousand miles on them and so far so good. I will keep you posted.
