Morning,
So I've got a 1990 T4R SR5 V6 and had no issues with it until recently. Right side passenger CV shaft was not working to begin with (was going to replace it soon) but anyways I had taken my T4R out to the beach and was driving around and turned around nearly got stuck in 2 wheel drive and without thinking about it I switched to 4x4 and got myself unstuck.
I know I didn't burn the clutch but I know I have most likely damaged my CV shaft even further, but now the check engine light comes up (did the paper clip test to find out and I'm getting an error code 51) it could be related to the cable that that is hanging near my front differential but again I'm not %100 sure.
The real issue though which I'm not sure what it is related to is this, I have reset the ECU figured it would relearn something its was trying to over or under compensate for but it didn't work, but after the truck has been running for about 10-20 mins and driving around for abit the engine starts to heat up more to the point you can feel the heat through the gas pedal and thats when the check engine light starts to come back on. I'll hit around 2500 RPM switch from first to second gear and the light comes on and the engine gets sluggish.
I am at my wits end as I can't afford to pay a mechanic here in Cambridge Bay 140 an hour for labour plus whatever it will cost for parts.
Any help would be great, oh yeah if you do know how to fix the problem please explain a little as I'm not a very knowledgeable mechanic lol
