CHECK-IN: Total Snowfalls

So this latest round of snow for us here in the east is in the form of a noe'easter.

Just curious what snowfall amounts people got around the area.
I'm in Hagerstown, MD and we got somewhere between 13" -16" depending
on the source.

What did others get from this storm?

On a side note, I got out my snow blower and helped my neighbors.
I cleared eight drive ways, sidewalks and the streets in front of people's houses.

It's one way to meet your neighbors. I really didn't mind. I was glad I could help...

Meltwater galore in the Front Range.

I had over a foot in my back yard, now it's straight up mud.

Lost a shoe chasing after my damn dog. He gained about 20 pounds of caked-on mud. He loves that stinky shit.
 
Just shy of 8" here in Southeast Tennessee. I know it's nothing to what most of you are used to but for us it's a pretty good amount. Of course everybody went into apocalypse mode.

The mud out here is tricky... one step is solid and dry and the next is up to your ankles.

I'm amused by how quickly things shut down back home, esp FL/GA. I have a friend that works at a Subie dealership in NC and they closed yesterday. I figured all this weather would be good for business. :D

just because you have a subaru or anything equal to the awd system in them (audi quattro) or a true 4wd, without the experience of driving in those type of conditions (and its taken me years to learn how to drive in it, and i still learn a few tricks), the vehicle is just a small part of the equation.

the biggest part, everyone else 80%, then you 20%, then the vehicle, oh wait i was to save some % for the vehicle.

you get the idea :)

I'm not saying it makes you super man... just saying AWD makes things a bit easier in low traction situations and makes for a good sales opportunity.
 
14" and its still falling in Central Vermont.

This just happens to be the time that I take off from my real job and teach snowbarding for a week. And my truck truck should be done soon! This snow came at a great time!

Sounds like you already know your driving business, but if you want your wife/kids(?) to be more confident driving in adverse conditions, there is an excellent winter driving school in Steamboat. Its a hell of a lot of fun, you get to rally 4Runners and corollas with and without traction control/antilock brakes. First responders around here are required to attend every few years actually.

Hell, that sounds like fun even for people that are comfortable driving in the muck. I'll have to look into that.
 
We had a whopping 6" here East of Huntsville. I say that sarcasticlly but several places around here got more than that and this is Alabama, so major snow isn't something that ordinarily occurs. But when it does...watch out. :shocked: I can't complain though, I got to do this :couch2: for 2 days (off work).
 
That's crazy how much snow fell down south. I know people around here freak when we get snow, I can only imagine when people in the south get it act! I lived in Florida for the spring storm of 93' and I remember places all across the south getting snow then...

Look like we're getting another round of rain/sleet/snow tonight, into tomorrow. Calling for another 3-6" depending on when it rains and when it snows. Yay...:ohwell:

I had my wife take the Master Drive winter/ice clinic right outside of Colo Spgs.

It made her a lot more confident.
