Check my CB parts list

Ok, i've done quite a bit of searching and what I can't find is a good list of specific part numbers. I hate ordering stuff I don't need cause i never return it.

I was hoping ya'll could tell me if i'm getting the right stuff.
A buddy sold me a Cobra 75 XT, so I have that already.

This is from Amazon. I'm assuming that if I want to quick disconnect my antenna and still have a spring mount, these are the parts I need?

I couldn't find this mount on Amazon but I did on a CB site.

Am I missing anything?

I just ordered everything you mentioned and it worked for me. Just don't forget to order some cable long enough to go from your antenna to your CB.

Looking good, pretty much what my setup is BUT. !!!!IN MY OPINON!!!!!(disclaimer) you may need to rethink your quick disconnect. I opted against it because my Dad's rattles like crazy. The barrel is a little too big and does not really create a tight fit. Any side to side motion you can hear from the antenna. Really it takes me a min tops to unscrew my antenna with the spring attached from the stud.

People swear by the "length" of your cable. I originally made my own, which worked great till I nicked it. Then I got a pre made in the 15 or 18 ft whatever people said was the "golden length" is. it was much clearer and easier to tune the radio. barring any error I made with my "expert" solder job on the first cable.

Oh one more thing when you go to tune it. if you don't have an SWR meter, hit up radio shack, buy it, tune your radio and return it. They guy was like returning it already??? told him it wasn't what I needed :evil:

This sort of crap is probably part of the reason why that very same RadioShack will be closing soon....

For a 15$ dollar tuner I used once after I bought 10 bucks worth of cable and a headphone jack cable in the same purchase? Sounds like they have a business model problem dude.... plenty of stores rent out tools and return ALL OF YOUR MONEY. Keeping a 15 dollar meter that says made in China that I had to screw back together when I pulled it out of the box isn't going to happen and sure as hell not the reason why radiocr@p closed. You can get a cheaper working meter free shipping from amazon. I rest my case [MENTION=46025]HokieRunner[/MENTION]

Thanks guys for your help. There seems to be a lot of :bash: on T4R about starting new threads on topics that have been covered. So I feel bad starting this thread when what I needed was clearly listed elsewhere. I promise I did a lot of searching!

I do appreciate all the information on this forum. I feel lucky to have such a wealth of documentation on mods and fixes at my fingertips. Ya'll have had 7 years to figure all this stuff out, but sometimes the threads get buried.

Anyhow, I took the quick disconnect off my order. I have everything on the way. I think we'll be hitting the trail out here around Thanksgiving.

I feel good haha. I'm just amazed by some people's actions and the fact they post about them. has nothing to do with the worth of an item...but morals. Sorry for the thread sidetrack. Glad you were able to get some good info on your CB setup. I think you made a good call leaving out the disconnect.

Yes sir, my plan is to keep the antenna inside the truck unless i'm wheeling.

I don't park in many garages though.

I would advise going to a local cb shop, or even a truck stop. very likely they will have everything you will need, plus someone to help you understand the different parts. also, it supports local business, which is always good.

in regards to the cable length, its always been my understanding, you want 18', or as close to that as you can get. also, route it in such a way, that you use it all. don't coil, or bunch it up anywhere.

lastly, I wouldn't even key up the mic, until you have checked the SWR's. it may not cause any problems, but it is possible to fry the finals, if its way out. my cb shop didn't even charge me to check mine.

Short answer: Yes i've ordered everything

I looked up CB shops in my area and there aren't any without me driving over an hour out. There are some truck stops and I considered going to one but since I have no idea what any of the parts should cost, I was worried they would smell a sucker and run off with all my money LOL.
I would love to support a local business, I just couldn't find one that was local enough.

I'll definitely do a lot of reading before I put power to it and start pressing buttons. I've seen the SWR term thrown around a lot but don't honestly know what it means yet, I just know its important. I have no clue what a 'final' is in terms of CB's.
