Count me in - chrome in all the right places without being too much, in my opinion. Now, if I had bought it for an off-road machine, as it is well capable of being, I might wish for less chrome to maintain. I was even bummed that mine wasn't equipped with the chrome (polished) exhaust tip like the others I saw and drove, so that was the first mod I purchased for it. I also added a custom made chrome hitch plug cover with the Toyota emblem on it that I found on ebay.

Chrome looks good to be imho. There are certain parts that seems a bit much (chrome on lower front bumper facia, chrome under the door panels) but overall it's pretty cool. I thought about blacking it out, but I was afraid that on magnetic gray it wouldn't look as clean. I'd definitely do it on a TE rig, and I'd surely do it if the truck was white to give it a black/white contrast. Otherwise, I don't think it's "tooo" bad, they could tone it down a little but it's not enough for me to change it.

I have the Blizzard Pearl also, I can't wait until I put nice CHROME wheels on mine also!
Very very nice looking!!

Didn't want to start a thread - and this ancient thread is on the topic:

I'm also in the boat that likes classy chrome accents on a black truck. Sue me

Q: I'd like to swap the "SR5" Side Emblems for a similarly sized chrome "4x4" logo. Anyone know of a source for something that retains the fat/squishy looking letters and rough dimensions of the SR5 badge?

Thanks!

I like the small amount of chrome accents on the TE. I'd even consider chrome wheels if I found the right style because they clean up nicely and look good on the street.

Except for those wheels with the fake beadlock... that's just So Gay

BOOHAA!!!

Mike FTW !!

DAMN YOU :tongue1: lolz Antman

Do some older Toyota 4x4's have something similar? I'll peek around.

I know you have changed your tune about chrome since you started this thread long-long ago (almost 2 YEARS ago now) - I'm not quite there yet ;)

Rock on :guitar3:

OK, at the risk of being stoned to death on this Forum I am going to admit that I actually LIKE (maybe lovers was a bit too strong) the chrome on the 5th gens. Anybody else have the b***s to admit it?????? Bueller, Bueller, Bueller:D

BP looks great with chrome trim, still searching for the right chrome wheels for my toy hauler :hungry:
If they made the TE in BP, I might be convinced to go to the dark side :peep:

Until I joined this forum and read some others' opinions, I honestly never even thought about the chrome as such a big deal one way or the other. The 4Runner's chrome accents are way different than having blingin' polished chrome wheels a la some Jeep Grand Cherokee or Dodge Durango models that stick out like a sore thumb. Yuck.

For me, it comes down to how the rig looks as a whole. For the TE guys with lifts, M/Ts, and black wheels (not that these mods are a prerequisite), I think it looks great when they black out the little bit of leftover chrome that comes on their trim (Toyota emblem on front, "4Runner" on back) because it makes the image very consistent. For the less modified SR5 and Limited guys, the chrome gives the 4R more of a classy look, especially on the BP and black exteriors. The 5th gen design is aggressive right off the lot. They look tough on the trail and classy in the city and that's what's so great about them--balance--especially for those of us who don't have any other rides.

^^This is exactly how I feel. I know my 4Runner is never going to be like a modified TE or even close, because that isn't practical for me and my family. But I still love to browse the forum and see what others are doing (including blacking out the chrome). I love the look of the 4Runner stock with chrome and also the look of modified rigs just like skel said- as a whole- whichever it may be. :) They are just a good looking vehicle.

I do like the chrome on the BP but had to go with the black rims.

Here are a couple of pics of mine - sorry there are not the best. It is a Cdn SR5 with upgrade. These wheels were on my 09 Tacoma 4x4 and lucky for me fit very nicely on the new 4Runner.

Can you add a close up picture of what wheel that is? Thanks.
