Chuckles' 98 Manual SR5 4Runner

It happens occasionally when the clutch is out. When I barely touch the clutch pedal like 1/8" depressed, it goes away. Definitely not the throwout bearing. I have a feeling it is the input shaft front bearing. Anyway, I'll be on the lookout for a used transmission around the 150k mile range.

Oh yeah, I was hopeful for you.

Update-

Got the transmission back together. No leaks! Clutch is a lot easier to push with fresh grease on the pivots and a new hydraulic line.

Tom Woods Driveshaft is great! No more highway vibrations! Now I can comfortably go on my 6k mile trip out west this summer. Still have a lot to do on the list though.

Florida trip is in a couple weeks. Going to visit my girlfriend's mom and stepdad, go to Disney, do a little wheeling in the pines and white sand, and go to the beach!

The past week, I've been having a hard time getting the transmission into gear when at a stop. I usually have to roll forward or back to get it to engage. If it's flat I'll have to put it in 2nd and roll it that way. I guess I'll just have to adjust the clutch again...

Not sure if I posted this or not, but a couple months ago on a 20ish degree night, my windshield cracked while sitting outside overnight. Right in my field of view at the top

I ordered a windshield pull knife today... let's see if I can find a decent shape windshield at the junkyard this weekend

Good luck finding something clean and not pitted!
I finally bit the bullet and bought one but they got the wrong tint. Went ahead and had it installed, blue instead of brown. Brown was better.

That's interesting. From Toyota, bronze tinted windshield is $358 and green tinted windshield is $481. I think it has something to do with limiteds having something green, but idk

There's a 2001 at the junkyard right now. I didn't pay attention to the windshield last time.. hopefully it's good.

It was really hard to tell which I had, with a white piece of paper we decided it was brown. After driving with the new (aftermarket) windshield I knew the old one was for sure brown. Now that I'm used to it it barely matters. If there's a next time, though, I'm going with brown.
Just thought I'd throw that little tidbit out there.

I also put new brakes on. I rebuilt a set of junkyard calipers with OEM seals, new Wagner pads (not impressed with them), and got my rotors turned at O'Reilly's (did a bad job and took way too much off). This summer, I'll probably get some new pads and rotors... again.....

Florida trip was a success! Only thing that the truck did was make a weird squealing noise during engine braking from the rear end of the truck. It stopped making the noise after the truck sat for a week, so I have no clue what it was.

While checking out a side trail, I went down this steep hill. I slid down about half of it. Took 6 recovery straps hooked together, about an hour of running around in the snow, and 2 4Runners to pull me back up.

Not much has happened over the past month or so. Just been driving the thing. I did replace my entire AC system a few days ago (except for the interior bits and the 2 hard lines). It's blowing cold again. I had a leak in the low pressure hose, compressor was making awful noises, and the condenser had seen better days. Was about $350 for everything from rockauto. All Denso parts except Chinese rubber hoses.

I will be posting some pics soon...

I have about a month and a half before my trip out to CO, WY, and MT and there's so much left to do!
