Did you paint the split 3s or plastidip them? I'm considering doing mine soon since they are too filthy to really clean up properly.

I just put them on there so I wouldn't be as worried about the weight rating. I also climb up there a bunch and sit down. They were only like 5 bucks at the salvage yard.

The PO plastidipped them. I don't like it with all the imperfections. My plan is to run them until I can find some 5 stars and paint them properly. I would not recommend plastidip unless you don't care if they look bad up close.

My best friend finally got a truck! (his 6th vehicle in 2.5 years)

1995 Nissan Hardbody, 4WD, V6, Auto 2" Body Lift, stock suspension, frame rust...

We're going to fix it up together (minus engine work from his dad's friend who is a mechanic)









Since he has a 4X4 now, I really have the itch to go off roading. Trying to not get in trouble again, we have limited options. We're planning on going down to Cedars of Lebanon State Park/ State Forest and see if anything is still open. (probably after we graduate) He is going to West Point pretty soon after graduation, so we don't have much time together.

I've started my grill painting! So far I have painted the horns red, painted the Yota emblem red, and sanded the chrome on the grill (still need to do some more).





I also reinstalled the fender snorkel today. After I put the fender lining back in, I realized I goofed... I put the elbow on the wrong side of the fender :roadkill: I'll fix it sometime.

I sanded down my bumper end cap (from the junkyard). Ready to clean and prime!






Next week, I'll pull the rear bumper off and sand it down, paint it, and put 'er on!

What happened?

A 1" in diameter stick/ branch fell out of a tree while parked in the driveway. I guess the hood looks like crap anyways, with its 15ish hail dents and unmatched paint.


I'm going to the salvage yard tomorrow... hopefully it's desert dune

Junkyard Haul

Went yesterday and this is what I got:

Sunroof motor
Tow hook
2 breather barbs
Relay
Fog switch
Tire tool for mom's car
Misc. bolts


Not too bad, but I was expecting better. The 4Runner had only been there for 3 days, but somebody already got the hood, hatch, spoiler, running boards, door panels, grab handles, dashboard, headliner, cargo cover, spare tire mechanism, alternator, throttle body, ABS module, master cylinder, rear bumper, badges, shift knob, radiator, and probably some other stuff. At least I had some fun with my grandma!


On a side note, does anyone know it a 2nd gen T4R steering wheel will fit on mine?

Grill!

Got the grill all zip-tied up and it looks awesome! Now I just need to do the bumpers...




I have 5 AP tests coming up soon, so I won't have much time to work on Diamond. When I have some free time, I'll make my diff breather extension, install the sunroof motor, and paint the bumpers. I'll probably do the front bumper first.

I like the build, especially the old school 4WD mud flaps. Been trying to get my buddy to cut me some vinyl decals to replicate that on my mudflaps as well. Classic Toyota IMO. :nod:

Oooh! I was like "what is five?" I see now haha

I love the mudflaps! My dad wants me to make some vinyl cutouts for my 3rd gen ones, but I like these too much.
