Cigarette lighter inoperable.

Cigarette lighter stopped working while using compressor plugged in. What should I check first? I'm assuming blew a fuse. Where would that fuse be?

Cigarette lighter/different problem though

My wife took my 1996 4Runner out this weekend and used the cigarette lighter for her phone charger. When she pulled out her charger the whole sleeve of the lighter pulled out about an 1"1/2. Now it doesn't work. Any ideas on how to fix this problem? Funny thing is my partner at work has a 1995 4Runner and when I asked him he said "let me know because I have the same problem and would like to fix it." Please help. Thanks

My first question might have been: "Why not just use the power outlets?". The answer, for me, was because they didn't work.

Just in case you don't know the power outlet fuse is in the engine compartment's fuse block, on the drivers side. F.W.I.W. :thumb3:

My lighter outlet only works sometimes like its a faulty connection. Whenever I have something plugged in, I have to turn it and jiggle it and get it into the right spot for it to work.

There is also a fusible link built into each outlet. It's a little wire from one of the terminals to an internal contact on the back. It's about a 1/2" long and makes an "L" shape. You either need to replace the outlet or there is a DIY on how to beat it if you search.

So if you have power at the leads to the outlet but no power out of it that's probably the cause.
