Cigarette Lighter issue - not a fuse

2007 4Runner SR5 V6 4x4

Recently bought a gently used vehicle and found the "first" post-purchase issue. The front cigarette lighter outlet does not work.

Already searched the forums for known issues and: (1) the fuses were checked and ARE functional, (2) the rear outlet DOES work, (3) the car was in the ING-ON position.

Not sure how to chase down an electrical short or bad ground, so I'm thinking my next step would be to replace the front outlet.

Thoughts or other suggestions?

Is there a preferred place to buy Toyota parts online?

did you make sure the harness is plugged in? I removed mine to use it to power something else. The outlet was still there but it didn't work anymore.

And if your plugged in, check to see if you have power to it(test light).

Question....

Is it the front 12v power outlet or is it the lighter?

Because if it is the lighter from the Smoker's Package, just know that it is on a different circuit than the front and rear power outlets (which are on the same circuit.) The lighter has a different fuse from the power outlet.

If it is the front power outlet and the rear power outlet works then it must be the outlet itself because, as I said, the front and rear are on the same circuit.

From what I've read the lighter has a fusible link that is (possibly) attached to the bottom of the lighter. I am having the same issue, but haven't tried to fix it yet.

Looks like OP hasn't come back since he posted his first message but I'd be curious if he's talking about the power outlet or the lighter. They're not the same thing and they are on different fuses. The cigarette lighter is easy to pop out, actually you can take that whole panel off by just opening the console, taking out the console insert and then lifting the panel up. All the connections are on the underside.

If the socket that's not working is the 12v power outlet, and the rear outlet is working, then I would probably try replacing the front outlet.

Crazy month. Finally got around to addressing the issue. Thankfully it was a simple two minute fix.

It turns out that hearno's suggestion was correct. Upon removing the console cover, the wiring harnesses were disconnected for the lighter and DAC. Plugged them in and problem solved. A maintenance tech must have forgotten to plug them back in when working on the vehicle.
