Cigarette Lighters Don't Work

When I went to charge my cell phone today, there was no power going to the cigarette lighter. Thinking that it is the charger, I try it in another car and it works. Then I didn't panic thinking it was only a fuse that blew so I changed the cigarette lighter fuse in the fuse box below the center diffrential switch. To my surprise, they still don't work. The outlet in the liftgate does not work either. What else could the problem be? Also, can someone tell me how many fuses there are for the 12V outlets? These components worked in my truck ever since I got it. Just to add in, the dealer changed my sunroof switch this past week because they said there was a short in it.

Lets eliminate the easy stuff. Have you checked the connection plug that's under the center console? I know it doesn't explain the back, but lets start there.

I did not. How would I access that? I went down again and tried tampering with the fuses because the problem just sounds 100% like a blown fuse. I even made sure that the all the other fuses worked around that one and they did. I thought maybe there was something with that whole panel. Thanks for the reply. I actually just came up from working on my truck.

I plugged in my iPod cradle and a hands free device and still no power (in both outlets).

Update!! I brought my truck in this morning and they said it would take an hour. Their explanation was there are many fuses that control the 12V outlets. My mom followed me because I knew I had problems. We get back to the dealer an hour later and they said there is a more serious problem than they thought and they gave us a 2005 teal Corolla loaner. They called me up at noon and said it was the board where all the fuses plug into and it would take two to three days for the part and installation. The funniest part is I am not over 21 years old so I can't even drive the loaner. I am in my mom's X5 now for three days!! Anyway, I still hope I get my truck back soon!

You better believe it. I wouldn't have been very happy if it wasn't under warranty. I will let you know how much that part costs when I get the paperwork. The only thing I could think of is my sunroof switch had a short in it and that was replaced last week. I wonder if the dealer fried it somehow? I won't even bother asking them because they will tell me it was something that I plugged in. I don't know, but I still don't feel that this will fix the problem.

I got my truck back yesterday. It did not give me a price on the paperwork, but here are the parts they needed:

Toy 90000-02022 Fuse, Mini
Toy 82730-35359 Block Assembly, Driver Side
Total Labor = 2.5 hours

It also said they traced an open circuit between #30 and #31 pin connectors in fuse block. Everything works fine now hopefully it will stay that way!!

I know it's a lil old, but i had this problem too. He checked the fuse in the dash and that was fine, but then he checked in a fuse box under the hood on the driver's side and swithched one in there. (i'm not sure which one, i never went back to look) and it was fine.

I tried switching every fuse that could be related to that but it didn't work. The funniest is the dealer told me that I must have changed the fuse wrong. Well, it ended up being the entire fuse block. You are lucky that yours was a quick fix. I wish I knew how it blew!!
