Clarification on amber marker lights write-up

Hi guys,

I found a site that has a great write up for amber marker lights in the grill:

Being a complete novice at this, does this installation guide mean that I don't have to cut any wires...should there be any type of electrical issue in the future (for warranty purposes)?

if followed as written, no you will not have to cut into any stock wiring. this mod will not affect any warranty, provided that you can prove that the installation of these marker lights did not cause the failure of the part/system you are trying to warranty. however, if the dealer can prove that, for example, your armature wiring job caught fire and caused your truck to burn to the ground, well then you're going to be shit outta luck.

Since those instructions don't include a switch, is that fuse hot from:
1) the ignition
2) tail lights
3) other lights?

Don't want to assume with electrical wiring and "let the black smoke out of the box". Everyone struggles with putting the smoke back into the box…

The way he wired it, it's from the ignition. I have mine wired the same way. Ignition on = Lights on. I thought about putting a switch inline but ultimately decided against it.

Voltage will always be the same, your truck is only a 12v system.
LED's have a very low amperage draw, measured in milliamps per LED. You could make the truck look like a Griswold Christmas decoration before you really have to consider amperage! Although if you only put in a 15A fuse, then you only have 15A of current to work with.

What is the limiting factor (the voltage or amps?) when determining the amount of lights that can be wired?

FYI - for my LED interior lighting that I added 2 weeks ago, I am running a 3A fuse! 8 Red SMD LEDs and 2x 8 white SMD LED strips only pulled a load of 1.2A. I got the lowest amperage fuse I could find to ensure I didn't start a fire if something shorted out (although it better not!).
