Classics go to Moab?

I ask because I have a buddy here who does semi-professional video editing. Here's an example: Hole in the Rock 3.22.12 - YouTube

He'd probably charge a little bit, but with this many cameras I think we should pool footage and fundage and get a proper video made. Lemme know if you guys are down and I'll check with him about his rates.

That would be really cool!! This could be the annual T4R.ORG Moab event :D

For the clicky impaired:

That video is really good work. I like how he edited all the vehicles coming down at ~2:30

Damn I want it to be October already.... All the hype about the video, pics and such. I will bring an extra 2 cv that someone can have if needed. They do me no good. Bob you bringing any extra parts for your beast ex. Any extra axles or driveshafts? I want to at least get an extra axle in case the rig breaks. Just got a Winch and a 20lb co2 tank(anyone is welcome to use it) will upload pics later. Still got to get some camping equipment.:D

Unfortunately my job petered out much sooner than expected, so I haven't accumulated what I had hoped to. I may swing out by the local salvage yards and see what I can collect on the cheap, but right now I won't have much in the way of spares. The birfields are the most vulnerable items. I wouldn't worry too much about the driveshafts--they rarely fail under stock power, even when being abused a bit. I hope the corners I'm going to have to cut don't come back to bite me while down there--if this wasn't such a big deal to me, I'd already have given up and started making plans for next year instead. I don't like doing things half-arsed like this.

Neither do I. I'm not bringing any spare parts either. I'm hoping that nothing breaks, and if things do break then hopefully I can limp home or find a parts store near by.

I'll bring an assortment of tools, a half dead spare tire, a jack and maybe some elec tools for troubleshooting engine stuff if the occasion arises.

Of course I'll have my FSM as well.

That video is outstanding! It really captured the feel of the whole trip, not just the wheeling part. Music was really good, too--not overpowering rock like so many tend to do, but subtle background tunes that added to the flow. I intend to have a GoPro and my Nikon point-n-shoot--it's a simple camera, but at 12mp, it takes good shots until I can finally upgrade to a proper DSLR next year.

In the spirit of us all getting home in one piece, I imagine we will take it easy. I may try an obstacle once and if I can't get right up it I will back off. Unlike when SVD and I go out and wheel, we'll keep fighting an obstacle till one of us makes it up and we can use my winch.

Mario-bring all the parts you want including those I texted you about. Those CV's should be the same for the IFS 1st or 2nd gen.

I must agree trying to get home in one piece, I will bring the cv's and other parts we talked about no sweat.

Those don't happen to be OEM original, do they?

Yup OEM original

I'm starting to think somebody doesn't want me to go on this trip at this time. Yesterday the truck cut out on me at least three times for no apparent reason. Today it started running hot again, and I found my relatively new electric fan was not responding. I can only find one used tire in my size with any decent tread (the only other one I found was just as bad as the ones on the truck). The closer this gets, the more doors keep slamming shut in my face. I may have to pass after all, because this is really starting to stress me out. I'll update if things change for the better, but for now, my chances are not looking good. Sorry, fellas.

I understand if things don't work out but we will miss ya!! Get your cooling system fixed and maybe your tires will hold up for you? But don't put yourself in a bad spot if you have issues with one or more tires if they're looking bald.

Hope you can make it!!!!!!

:(

We're pulling for ya, do what you gotta do.

Just remember, if you miss this trip you're a punk and we'll all point and laugh. No pressure. :D

If nothing else, we can start planning for Ouray in the Spring!
