Classics go to Moab?

I've got a full complement of camping gear, including a Coleman grill-stove (half grill, with one burner) and a separate butane burner. I have no idea what's available at the camp ground (probably not much), but the whole town is right there, so stocking up shouldn't be an issue. I bring a 7-gallon water supply, large cooler, tent, cot and sleeping bag, lanterns, etc.. Basically, when I camp, I'm self-sufficient. Glad to hear you've been able to work the trip in, SVD!

I don't really have anything for gear other than a sleeping bag. Tents are cheap though. I have a cooler and can probably find a little propane grill to bring. I have a 5 gal water jug (thanks FoG!!) that I'll bring as well. Anyone know what the camp site has for facilities (showers/commodes)? Showers aren't a huge deal but it is nice to be fresh and clean every day.

I believe the site has full facilities. I think they have a website you can check out (Moab Rim Campground). Check pawn shops for deals on gear.

I'm sleeping in my Runner. If slave labor keeps up their grades, they get to come with and sleep in a tent. Cooking over a fire and cold cereal for breakfast.

I'll bring a tent... haha. I have spent enough nights out in the middle of nowhere in complete discomfort. I'll have a tent with an air mattress.

My packing list as of now (camping stuff only, not vehicle related):

Tent
Air Mattress (girly, I know... but I'll be comfy)
Sleeping Bag
Cooler (with food and beer/water of course)
Firewood/Charcoal
E-Tool (army folding shovel)
Maybe a propane grill and camping pots if I can some for cheap

Anything else that I'm missing? I'm used to nothing more than MRE's and sleeping bags... This type of camping is new to me :cry2:

Based on a conversation I just had with SV Dude, EVERY ONE BRING TOOLS! You never know when something might break. I'll have metric sockets, standard sockets, 54mm axle bolt socket, breaker bar and assorted hand tools. Bring belts and fluids as well.

Don't forget some sort of folding chair, unless you like sitting on a wooden plank (picnic table). I would also suggest a separate lunch-style cooler for trail goodies, unless you want to haul your big one around every day.

Yes. EVERYONE bring tools. Also spare parts - tie rod ends, ball joints if you have them, CV shafts. It'd be great if at least one of us had a rear driveshaft, too (I don't). Bailing wire, electrical wire, duct tape, zip ties. Don't forget to toss a sleeping bag, extra water, and snacks in your truck each day - if the unthinkable happens and you have to stay on the trail overnight, you'll be glad you did.

A working jack, spare tire, tire plugs, fix-a-flat, air compressor/CO tank, all good things to have along, and make sure your truck has good recovery points front and back.

Is it October yet? I can't freakin' wait!

We're going to be at an RV park just south of town, they've got a little grass area with fire pits, picnic tables, and tent pads. There are showers and toilets on site, bring a towel. There MAY be laundry and ice machines there, but again, if not we're just a couple minutes from the bright lights. I don't know if they have bbq grill stands, but I'll be bringing my 2 burner Campchef that you're welcome to horn in on if you need.

Everyone should probably plan on having their own cooler, unless you've already made plans to share with somebody else. With a grocery store so close I don't think I'm going to worry about planning too far ahead, myself, I'll probably go shopping on the way back to camp each night and just use the cooler for drinks and snacks. If anybody wants to get in on that with me, two people eat cheaper than one...

Kid, Al and I are doing the same when it comes to dinner meals. We are coming from 22 hours away on an 8 day trip, so that would be a lot of food to pack. Plus not having to plan out that far will be nice and every time we go on a wheeling trip we kick ourselves for having to come back and "cook it up, camp style." While there are times that it is a necessity, back country camping 40 miles from civilization, we plan to take advantage of town being right there on this trip. A little stop off for dinner at a brewery every once in a while (got to experience the Moab vibe and flavor :beer with some light shopping for other nights, should make the evening meals little to no hassle.

I plan on doing sandwiches and other non perishables for lunch/emergency overnight rations in a day cooler. As mentioned, an emergency bag with overnight supplies (layers for cold weather, toilet paper, e-tool, sleeping bag, tarp, fire log, water, FIRST AID KIT, etc) will be permanently attached to my roll bar.

Other items for me will be tools, jumper cables, parts, small Honda generator, chap stick, sun screen and all the little crap that goes with being away from home. With town being right there and this many of us coming, I'm sure we will be loaded for bear when it comes to what ever mishaps come our way.

On another note, check your camera and SD cards guys. Last trip, I forgot my new camera didn't take AA batteries and I ended up having to buy an entire wall charger for it. PITA and $$$$. Good news is I now have a trip one that stays in my rig. As for the SD card, bring a couple or make sure you have something large enough. I filled a small 2GB card up on a trip to Big Bend National Park and didn't have another one with me.

WARNING - I ain't sharing my emergency sleeping bag with anyone in the event that we find ourselves in an overnight situation. Unless you look like a certain person that will remain un-named that I met in Cold Weather Survival School :biggrin2: or if you look like you are really going to die and then I'm sure the stinking Coast Guard in me will come out and I would let you have it. With this many rigs and this group of guys though I'm sure we will be able to get ourselves out of whatever comes our way.

I will definitely have it filled before I leave but it will only fill a 35" tire from 15-25psi 30 times according to the charts.

Anyone heard anything from Nate? Last I heard his runner is still broke... is he going to be able to make it?

I'll have my Superflow MV-50, which does 15-30 in about 3-4 min.. Given Moab's serious 4x4 reputation, I would be surprised if they don't have CO2 available. I intend to bring my laptop. As for running with 20 psi everywhere, you may want to reconsider, as we will definitely see some highway driving, including tight curves, etc.. It looks like I may end up staying on my worn tires (nothing used around here, and no one retreads this size here), so I hope we don't run into much rain. It's either new tires or the trip, not both at this time. Bummer.

I'm bringing mine. With the Flip camera, a GoPro and a digital still I figured I would need to do some data drop at least once.

On another note, I went and had the local guy look at my sliders for install. $250. Ouch! I wish I had enough time to learn enough to do it myself but I guess I'm gonna just have to swallow that one.

He'd probably charge a little bit, but with this many cameras I think we should pool footage and fundage and get a proper video made. Lemme know if you guys are down and I'll check with him about his rates.
