Hey all,
This is a post from ClubLexus.com regarding window cleaning:
"The trick to cleaning glass and not leaving streaks is to continue to wipe the glass dry even after you think it's done. The streaks come at the end of the process and continuing to wipe a few moments more removes them. I gave up on newspaper some time ago because it's not really absorbent and it does leave newsprint on the glass (and other surfaces, including headliner!). I now use paper towels or a clean, LINT FREE rag, like an old T shirt.
Best way to practice is on your bathroom mirror. If you can get your mirror clear of streaks you've got the technique down.
BTW, remember never to use glass cleaner with ammonia on windows with aftermarket tint. You'll kill the plastic tint material."

Thai: In your reply you mentioned not to use glass cleaner with amonia on tinted windows.
My dad's GS has aftermarket tinted windows on it.
Im the one who cleans his car so I use the green Windex with paper towels.
That should be OK?
And yes that is true to keep rubbing those windows a couple moments after they look dry!
BTW, I just checked out that site ClubLexus.com and they are some great looking modified GS and other Lexus's there!
I'm buggin my dad about putting on some nice chrome 18incher on his black GS! hehe!!

I've recently started using the Rain-X windshield washer fluid to clean the windows. Cleans the grime off well and leaves a good coat of Rain-X behind. When in even a mist of rain is falling, the water just runs off the glass.
I use one newspaper to clean, a second to dry and polish, then use an old t-shirt to ensure no streaks.
Doug - for the inside, your microfiber cloth sounds like it may help avoid this problem (http://www.toyota-4runner.org/showthread.php?s=&threadid=862). Where did you get it?

The microfiber cloth works great on the inside windows. It will remove all that film that accumulates on the windows from the vinyl. I've picked up microfiber cloths from just about every place that sells car stuff. Schucks/Kragen/Checker (depending on your locale) has them, GI Joes, Wal-Mart, Target, AutoZone, etc. Be sure to look for the thickest ones. Some are real thin and will wear out soon. Meguires makes a real nice one. They run about $3 to $5 depending on quality, but they last years. I keep on in the car just to wipe the interior glass if it gets foggy. The can be used on any surface also, not just glass.
