Clear coat flaking

Mine started fading pretty bad (silver) on some exterior pieces like the hood scoop, rear lift gate trim piece and the wing. I fully repainted all of those with color matched paint and 2K clear, they turned out really good. The wing was the hardest since it's the biggest piece. My fender flares are starting to fade on top now too, same with the rear driver door a little bit (respray). Not sure what I'm going to do when the rest gets really bad, maybe a cheap Maaco paint job in my favorite color, Toyota cement with extra clear for wet sanding/polishing.

Also I would be hesitant to paint large body parts with spray paint as its very easy to not get even coverage and most of the time the color matched cans aren't an exact match.

As a former detailer I’ve done a few things on other vehicles to fix it without much labor or cost. A good polish and Ceramic Coating can hide the issue for a year or two. Or you can also use Clear Coat wipes to make it look better (then polish) for 4-5 years. I’ve had good luck with the wipes on much older cars with failing or no clear coat with some great results.
