If you're having this issue when pulling in to our out of a driveway with a ledge or when cranking a wheel to turn or a combination of both(especially on an incline), it could be your skid plates.
I had a horrid popping/creaking sound last year and thought it might be loose joints or CV, but it turned out to be an ever so loose skid plate(not loose enough to rattle) that would make the sound every time I did something to flex the frame. The minuscule movements coupled with the close contact of metal on metal made a hell of a racket that was not readily distinguishable nor locatable. Had the guys at the shop tighten everything up during my last service and everything has been silent since.
Just a thought based on my recent experience. Should be easy enough to check for yourself. Cheers!
