Click/thud when coming to a stop

99, 4WD w/ 190k. I have changed all fluids regularly and just had all the zerks greased.

About 1 in 10 times when almost to a complete stop going about 3-5 MPH I hear a click/pop sound and feel it in the front floor boards. It's the same sound as the 4WD engaging but also has a pop feeling in the floor boards. When I engage my 4WD I do not have any feeling in the 4wd just the noise which is normal.

I do know my front driver axle boot is leaking and my upper ball joint is toast but I don't think that is what it is. I could be wrong.

Any ideas what it could be or how to run it down since I cant duplicate? I would hate to take it somewhere just to have them drive around and it never happen. But I would also hate to let it go and make it worse.

Is the steering wheel in its upright position? (Are the tires facing straight.) Or does this also happen when you are turning? I ask this because sometimes I get that same noise and "pop" feeling in the floorboards.

I am reading up on this now and everyone seems to think that the zerks need greased, how ever I had that done yesterday with my oil change. I wonder If I should ask them to throw some more grease in there?

I greased mine as soon as I bought it and it appeared this may have been the first time in quite awhile (Some points seemed bone dry). Anyway once I greased it I noticed some improvement but soon thereafter the noise came back. I went back under last weekend and pumped quite a bit more in there and have not had any noise since.

Update....

I greased the zerks once with the oil change and the noise seemed to go away for a few days. Well now its back but not as frequent or as loud. I am thinking about getting my own grease gun re-greasing my self.

Question... i have read about putting to much grease in the zerk. How am I supposed to know? How much should I add?

If this does not resolve the issue then what? I have taken the drivers side wheel off and everything seems good. However the axle has been leaking grease for a while and the upper control arm joint is blown. Maybe it's one of them causing the issue?

Better late then never. Just wanted to post a resolution. The fix was a replacement caliper. When I removed the old one I did not see any thing out of the ordinary but since the replacement the noise has not been back. strange.

Yeah, I've got an unexplained clunk and I think that this is probably my problem also. I've replaced pretty much everything on the front end and the Tundra brake upgrade is next on my list.
