Clicking under shifter

Hey guys! Long time no visit for me. I evidently bought a good Runner years ago cause I've had minimal problems with it.
This problem I caused. When I put new calipers on it, I broke the bolt holding the brake lines to the steering knuckle and never replaced it. On friday I noticed a leak that got real bad by the time I got home. Didn't realize that that steel brake line was taking all the torque when turning the wheels everytime. Luckily that new brake line cost me 9 bucks at the dealer. Everything back together and working fine.
Now I notice a clicking sound under the shifter when pressing the brakes, when and only when I'm in Park. Doesn't do it in any other gear. I kinda remember someone talking about this in the past but I couldn't find anything when I searched.
This sound familiar to anyone?
Now have 295,000 on this beast.

That noise should've been there all along. Not sure of the official name - shifter release maybe - but it's a safety feature that doesn't allow you to move the shifter out of park without your foot on the brake.

How is your brake pressure? Mine doesn't do it.

There is a shift lock solenoid underneath the shifter column cover (right underneath the ash tray) that can go bad (had one do it in a Camry where it lost fluid, don't know if it clicked). The solenoid had to be replaced and the SRS system activated to clear a fault code. Sometimes my mother would experience a soft pedal.

Totally normal for an automatic, the noise is the shifter release as said. It is triggered by the brake switch and will only do thisin park. :bravo:

Brake pressure seems fine. I'm gonna keep paying attention to it.
I'm not convinced it's done it since I've had it. I feel Like I'm pretty in tune to this truck and this is definitely new.

Hey did you find out what was causing this? Sorry to bring up an old thread but I have the exact same thing at the moment. It's not the usual 1 click. It's a frequent ticking and it does sound like he mechanism that locks and unlocks the shifter but I'm not sure why it would be ticking more than once
