Clock Display 2015 Trail Edition

I took my dash apart to see if I could add stuff to the display around the clock and now I have this rattle that is driving me nuts.

Also, my SAT/NAV display shorts in and out so I must have pulled a wire somewhere.

I should have left well enough alone.

No you would not be able to just change the info meter. The combination meter communicates with the center display, so you would need to change out your combo meter as well(like from 2010-2013). Also the crawl control switch would need to swapped as well.

So I'm inclined to agree with you based solely on the fact that I found a clock display from a 2010-2013 on eBay and the back had an extra connector. But by the same token, the 2014 trail I believe has the redundant display on the center dash and instrument cluster. So even if it has the extra connector that's going to make me wonder what that is. I'm still holding out to see what engineer might find.

Looking at diagrams, the newer gauge only has power, accessory, illumination and ground. No data wires at all and pin configuration is different from the older style.

No direct replacement/swap.

Correct, the 10-13 have an additional LINT connection from the crawl control switch which activates the display for those modes. 14 up it is integrated in the cluster and the crawl control switch number was changed as well. This would be for an update to the programming from going to the cluster from the center dash display.

Came across this, need experts to weigh in and help figure out how to do this swap! I loved the info display in my 2014... traded it in today for a 2016, didn't even notice that there was just a stupid clock until I started it up getting ready to leave the lot. Almost went back to get my 2014! Really hate not having the read out. So I need a 2014 info display, a wiring harness, and what else to get this mod done asap?

Does the '15 clock display get its time sync'd from the GPS? I think I recall when I test drove a '14, the GPS time on the radio didn't match the time on the clock display. Pretty lame if that is the case.

the '15 is the same as the '16 right? its just a dumb clock, you set it with the 2 buttons. its not connected to anything else

Was so hoping I'd get to the end of this thread and find out it was possible. Loved the center display on my 10. Really loved the blue trail version from the 13-14 years. Really disappointed with my 16's center display.

I'm going to figure this out. Surely if i can get my hands on a 2014 dash cluster, and info bar, the wiring should be able to be changed or manipulated to mirror a 2014. Heading to the dealership this weekend to get part numbers. I can't continue to live like this, lol

Ha! It's amazing to see so many like-minded souls. The clock on the 2016 bummed me out as well!

I poked around for a solution before bailing...Please let me know if you find a fix!

I'm wondering if the unit is all you need. The old one is $346 and the current one is $62. That tells me its likely more than just a display component.

This was one of those 'surprises' when I bought my '16 TEP. I remember looking at stock photos and seeing it and then when I actually paid attention to the top of the dash I realized it was different. I'd love the ability to change this to 2014 spec.

"2014 TEP meter assembly" purchased. Spent yesterday talking with the parts dept. It can be done, it's just going to take a while to figure out the wiring... have the plug in harness ordered as well. More to follow.

Thanks for blazing the trail - I'm another 16' TEP owner surprised with the basic dash clock - not sure I would be spending hundreds for this though...

How much did you end up paying for the meter assembly? Do you just plan on tapping into wires on your multi display? By the sounds of it you need meter display, multi display, and crawl control switch...GL

I like the clock. It's pretty much the same exact one that is in my sons 2001 4runner. Just like the rear window, the clock is just old school classic 4runner.
