Thanks for the explanation. The reason I asked was I never paid attention to the shifting before and I took notice the other day and saw that from a standing start with OD off, there were 4 shift points.

That 4th one you felt was the converter locking up if OD was turned off.

Came across this video today, same concept this guy had about 5 years ago. Mine will use paddles and less cardboard.

Cardboard is a nice nonconductive material for a base of an electronic circuit, just doesn't do it for me I guess, lol.

Poor mans shift kit, pulled the throttle pressure cable out all the way and tied it down. Nice snappy shifts all the time now.

No, work has been kind of busy. If I don't get it done during the week I will definatly have time on Saturday.

Just to clarify, thats not a kickdown cable, and don't ever drive with it disconnected.

Had some time today to get the left paddle in and built a harness for both and wired into the clock spring.

So instead of using regular relays to trigger the solenoids, FET's (field effect transistors) will be used, I believe MOSFET type.

Will they be strong enough. I think the solenoids draw like 10 to 13 ohms

They take about 750mA (.75amps) to operate, so they will work just fine.

Thanks! Hopefully I can get this paddle shift project done before the end of the year.

Looks like FET's (field effect transistors) will be used. So no additional clunky automotive style relays to be wired with moving parts and clicky noises. The amp load from the solenoids is pretty low about 750mA, so probably MOSFET style, doing this will keep size down too since they can be integrated into the control unit.

Not even using a arduino anymore, has been simply reduced to a ATmega328p.
