Clownmeat's build thread

Good looking rig and I'm interested in the turbo setup. Where are you going to pull fresh air from? And how are you doing it for $500? I want one.

Thanks. Air filter will be just above my compressed air tank in the back, having the body lift it will be about 4" higher than the bottom of the doors so water shouldn't be an issue. If I have to I will run a snorkel off the rear quarter intead of the front fender, I dont know, haven't got there yet. I will have less than $1000 total because I am doing it all myself and not buying high dollar brand name stuff.

Still makes me laugh, at around 40 seconds you can hear the horn beep when my chest hits the steering wheel and my wife almost starts laughing.

Awesome thread man! great lookin truck!! Are you gonna do a write up on the turbo when youre done. Did it cost less then putting in a supercharger?

Thanks. I was just doing the turbo in this build thread as I go, but if enough people were interested I could do a step by step write up on it for just the turbo system I guess.

Cheapest i've seen used superchargers on ebay have been about $1200 and STS's turbo kit is $4000. My turbo setup all done should be around $1000 with all new parts. Also I don't dislike superchargers and TRD makes a bolt on one just for our engine which is awesome, but I have been turbocharging stuff for a long time and just can't stop, love my turbos.

I am subscribed. good progress so far.

x2. Lol, why'd you have to go and get a turbo 4runner on my brain? This is one of the other vehicles in the garage.....

I'll put a turbo on everything if I can!

Took about 3 hours but I got the turbo oil feed line ran and suprisingly none of my fittings or flares leaked which was nice. The Mocal scavenge pump works beautifuly to return the oil back to the engine. No charge pipes yet but at least the turbo is bolted on for good and made it way quieter which is nice because it's my daily driver.

I have a feeling Turbos are going to start popping up on this forum.. Cant wait :D

Great start man, loving the progress.

No charge pipes yet been just driving around breaking in the turbo. It starts screaming at about 1500 rpm, sounds like an F16 under my truck, people stare.

I would love to see the write up on this, my buddy and I ahve been talking about turbo'n my runner and his taco for years! The way you did it is exactly what he has been trying to sell me on, it just didn't seem to add up in my brain (which also needs a turbo most the time) looks like it works pretty slick. when you do the write up detailed parts list would be awesome!

nice rig btw!

Couldn't take video driving because there was too much vibration for my hard drive camera.
