Clownmeat's build thread

Prove it :snacker:

it would be so easy...

basically you would have to unhook the wire giving signal to the starter when you turn the key to the start position. basically use that wire to wire in the push start and as soon as you turn the key to the "run" position then you could press the start button and it would do the same thing as turning the key the rest of the way... thats how Honda did it with the S2000. except the key would only turn to the "run" position then from there you had to press the button. but with our trucks you will always have the ability to turn the key to the"start" position cause thats how the ignition was designed.

i suppose you could set it up to opperate both ways, ie starting with only the use of tuning the key all the way to the "start" position or just turning the key to the "run" where it would energize the push button, then you could use that to start the truck.

but i guess now i have to ask why? that would be way to ricey and cheep, something thor would do... there is no benefit what so ever to the push button(and no it would not make your truck any easier to steal). at least the paddle shifters requires some ingenuity and skills, and its also a functional/enhancement mod.

oh, I meant without a key in the ignition...

you cant do that, because there is not electronics to unlock the steering column, you need the key to do that. all of the newer cars like Mercedes and BMW and Lexus ect have electronic locks and transponders that dont even require the key be inserted into the vehicle, they just have to be close to the car. infact with BMW and some others you dont even have to have the key on you. say if a thief wanted to steel the car, he would not need to get the key from the driver/owner, he would simply have to get into the car with the owner/key holder close by(with in like 15' or so) and he could start the car and drive away. once the car has been started it will run until shut off. so theoretically one could drive the car hundreds of miles away without ever touching the key or being in possession of the key...

im actually quite surprised more car-jackings are not done this way, say like in a parking garage as the owner is retuning to their car...

it could be done. complete removal of the lock/starter mechanism on the steering column and run all those wires to a switch panel a la

I pretty much covered all the steps in my build thread, I guess I could compile everything together just haven't had the time. Also there are so many different ways to do it, it's kind of just a guideline in a way. Feel free to ask any questions though, it's a pretty basic system.

Ya I looked though your thread and I see you have random shots and discriptions of the fabrication process. Thing is, a "basic" turbo system to me is still jiberish. I mean I know how they work. But actually construting one in a different issue. The key to my title was the "for dummies" part haha

I will see if I can put something together in the near future as a full write up and parts list.

The rain droplets hit the back side of the air intake then runs down it. The snorkel is oversized and the intake tube comes 2" up in side of it.

The rain drops leak past the snorkel and the inside intake tube.

Thanks for the info, I couldn't find a pic of the inside of it. I just need to get my air intake up from under the truck and having a hard time finding the right components to make it happen.

yes i have one, and it does work, i have driven my truck a few times in some pretty hard rains sense i installed my snorkel, and i have never ended up with water in the tube. and yes i have my intake facing forward...

im sorry but i don't think the 4runner is gonna win , the nissan engine is just so much more superior in power
