Clunk from rear with tire rotation

So my wife and I just went to dinner, pulled out of the parking sport and heard clunk, clunk, clunk, clunk with each rotation of the tire. Checked the tire, nothing in it, it's somewhere in the driveline. Sounds like the pass rear. Any thoughts? I searched and saw the tab on the propeller shaft but that would be on starting from a stop.

Check torque on all of your lug nuts, stat.

Also check to see if somehow any of the balancing weights on the inner lip and/or stick on ones in the inner barrel came loose and interfering with something.

Another thing to look at is the rotor surfaces to see if there's something causing a rhythmic thump as it passes the brake pads.

So. I jacked it up, put it on jack stands and ran it forward and back. No noises. Checked the lug nuts, they were all loose. On every wheel. Someone just stole the wheels off the cars on either side of my house a few days ago. I'm assuming it's related to that. Which concerns me.

How far did you drive on them while loose? If it was much, I would replace all of the studs.

Less than a mile. I will pull the wheels in the morning and see if it shows any damage to the studs. I think this next weekend I'm going to install a motion sensing light over the driveway.

Sounds like they were in the process of taking yours as well. Something scared them off. As suggested above, check lugs. If it were mine. I'd change them anyway.

Got a garage or anyplace to get the 4R away from thieves?

I would replace them. It is very easy, and they are not expensive.

Remove wheel, hit stud with 5lb hammer, put new stud in, use some large washers and a lug nut to install new stud.

I had a shop snap 2 of mine and the others loosened up (on one wheel). I replaced the 2 that were snapped, and 3 of the other 4 promptly sheared off. Then I replaced them all 6 and no problems since.

You should also look into setting up a motion sensor alarm. They are relatively inexpensive (~$25 @ homedepot/amazon). You catch these guys in the act, i doubt they will mess with you again..
