Clutch Slipping (Needs Replaced?)

1990 3.0 4Runner
I guess it may be time to replace my clutch. I'm a fair mechanic and I'm thinking of doing myself. I have never done a clutch before. What do I need and what is the replacement parts manufacture do I use? Any good links? I searched some but thought I would ask for help?

You will need a clutch kit, and a new flywheel or you can turn your old one depending on how beat your old one is. Might as well change your transfercase and transmission fluid at the same time. You can do it all with basic hand tool's, i can have the job done in an hour. Not that hard of a job at all.

A transmission jack is a huge help for re-installation. Can usually rent them. Good Luck.

Just had to do it on a friends 90 toyota pickup w/ the 3.0. He used the Marlin 2100 clutch kit and had the flywheel turned. A few wrenches and sockets. 17mm socket for the bel housing bolts, 14mm for the starter removal and driveshafts, 10mm for the inspection in passenger fenderwell to get to starter, 12mm for the shifter removal, clutch to flywheel, trans mount to crossmember and the swaybar, and 17 or 18mm for the trans crossmember., You do not have to drain the fluid when you change the clutch. I just pulled the trans down far enough to get to the clutch and flywheel. Cant remember the size of the flywheel bolts to crank off the top of my head. Just disconnect the battery before you take the started from the bellhousing. You do not have to completely remove the started either. Just get it far enough back to clear the trans

Useful yes, but the transmission is light. Just take the transfercase off of it, and it's light as pie.

It looks like I'm working 60 hours this week, so I called a reliable mechanic and he said 450.00 to 500.00 using OEM parts. I hope that means for the flywheel to be turned. I need this done before the weekend. Thanks for your feedback and help. I will follow up with a update post.
