Clutch Start Cancel Switch

So I'm new to this and just found this site and am hoping someone can help me. With my clutch pushed all the way down my 4RNR won't start. For the past 2 days I've been just pushing the CLUTCH START CANCEL switch and it starts right up. Is this something that with continual use, can damage it? If so, how do I fix it? I have CHILTON but can't find anything on it. Any help would be greatly appreciated!!

When you say it won't start, do you mean it won't even turn over? And when you use the clutch start cancel, it turns over easily?

If so, I'm guessing it is the button/switch that is pressed by the clutch pedal when it is released (when your foot is not pushing it). This tells the truck that the pedal is pressed allowing you to start it, which you are bypassing when you hit the clutch start cancel button. If you get under the dash, you can see this switch in front of the clutch pedal, it may be jammed or broken. Alternatively, the spring that returns the clutch pedal may not be working (I have actually removed this spring and have no issue, however).

If it turns over without the clutch start cancel, then the problem is elsewhere.. and more details are needed on the "doesn't start" issue.

The sensor that the clutch is supposed to set off isn't always working, mine does the same thing, sometimes it will let me start with only the pedal pressed but usually I just press the button. There is no major problem and you aren't hurting anything, if you care enough then pull it all apart, but I find it easier to just press the button everytime I start rather than ripping my clutch pedal out again.

1. You won't harm anything, unless you are starting with gear in.. If you HAD to always use the clutch start cancel, just continue to start the car either a. in neutral or b. with the clutch all the way in. All good!

2. It probably means the clutch pedal sensor is bad. It is a push type sensor that tells the computer your clutch is all the way in.

What I mean by "doesn't start" is that nothing turns over or anything like that when I try to start it without pushing the button. The radio and all the lights come on, but it doesn't start. When I push the button, then viola! it starts!

Sounds very much like the sensor on the clutch pedal is bad or came unplugged. It is a simple microswitch and over time will go bad. The starter clutch cancel switch is fine and just bypasses the pedal switch. Normally used when stuck on an up hill, leave in 1st clutch out and then can brake and gas while starting the vehicle.
