For the spare tire carrier, did you weld bolts to the circular plate that holes the spare tire? I got my kit and I’m working on it slowly.
Yes, I welded the bolts directly to the plate for the spare tire.

With this kit, do you also have to weld to the body or you weld the bracket that bolts to the body?
Looks great! By far one of my favorite looking rear bumpers.
I am also curious about the hitch, I have a Mission Overland trailer being built (approx 2400#). Definitely need to be able to keep the factory tow capacity. Anyone else play with that?
Hows the weight? I have talked to a few people that put on steel rears and it gave them the death wobble at 70mph. This is still my daily.
What about warping, anyone see any warping after it’s welded and after it’s been finished?
They say it isn't tow rated, but I assume that's for legalities and avoiding lawsuits if you can't weld and it comes apart on the freeway. They sell a removable weld together reciever for like $50, I chose to go ahead and weld mine to the bumper. I can't honestly say I've noticed any difference aside from not adding the backup sensors yet.

Did Coastal Offroad change their swingout design or was this a one off? I thought they used a different kind of hinge system, heim joint hinges?
looks dope tom, i agree with you. the partial plastics retained give it a nice edge whereas the full profile is very abrupt and kind of breaks the design flow
really wish i could get one of these, but the hitch is the most important part of the truck for me and i don't think i'd be able to load my motorcycle on the hitch rack anymore with a swingout
Looks like you had to remove your factory hitch. Did you ever consider mods to the CO bumper so that you could leave the factory hitch attached?

For anyone still wondering - on my '11 Trail Edition I tried mounting the factory hitch receiver back on over the bumper. Close, but doesn't quite fit. I removed the steel on the underside of the bumper and left the rear face and then could fit the receiver. My camping trailer is around 2500# and I didn't want to wonder about their receiver kit. In fact, I installed the receiver tube into my front Coastal bumper so that I can put a cargo carrier up there. A front receiver is surprisingly handy, and I can build modular attachments to go up there if need be, such as a pole/carrier for extended lumber or steel on the roof.Looks great! By far one of my favorite looking rear bumpers.

Nice build. Is that the way the hoops are supposed to be installed?
That would explain why these stick out so far..![]()
Also this is the full height setup. My plastic was too beat up to use, and as you can see there are pod light holes in this one.
