The hood was painted before, so there's a few too many layers of paint to work with. It's going to get stripped.

COB, as a Toyota nut and a supra owner ('83 and '84, both 7M-GTE powered), I have to say I am extremely jealous, I hate you, and I love you. I can't believe you found this car for what you paid for it (Only scratching the surface, I know, but...), I know that if I ever stumbled across one of these for double or triple that amount (in the condition yours was in) I absolutely would've been digging through every couch cushion I could find to buy it, and THANK YOU for taking such an incredible and caring journey with this car. It is so hard to find people with dedication like that to really take care of these. I personally like a little more modification in my supras, but nothing over the top, really. My friend has a '98 with a Seibon CF hood, a TRD wing, used to have a WW front lip/chin spoiler, and mostly stock exterior otherwise. It's built for over 1000hp but is running stock injectors on a piggyback and only at 550-ish at the wheels. By far one of my favorite cars, but yours... Something else, man.

LOL agreed, even gray primer beats the hell out of 3-6 colors!

What's up fellow Supra owner? I love me some MK2's, extra bad ass points for them both being 7M-GTE swapped. Even paying 3x what I did would still be a SMOKING deal for a MKIV these days, I am glad to be able to use the money saved towards restoration.
I thank you for your kind words, truly a disgrace to see such a well built machine in such peril. A car like this deserves this kind of restoration at a minimum. The parts are getting very expensive so I'm trying to get the rare stuff done first.
I hear you on the modifications, it has been hard making choices (stock wing VS trd wing, etc, etc) we'll see how you feel as it goes together as there are definitely some nice parts (CF is awesome) going into this car.

Man, I gotta call the painter back, he painted it DJG! lol This is actually a very similar green, IJM is a slight bit darker, less blue. Here's a comparison between DJG and IJM:

Bumpers are back from the repair shop. Very impressed with how well they repaired these - even the rear bumper looks like new.

This came in, ordered a few months back. Special thanks to Ken Henderson and David Wong of SP Engineering. Titek Carbon Fiber HKS Kansai style front lip.

Imperial Jade making its first appearance on the car. Notice how the water based paint shows as blue during the drying process.
A matte finish was used in the engine bay to replicate the OEM finish.

From the Toyota factory, all unpainted metal comes with a tannish coating that is often left showing in certain sections, say for example, behind the fenders. In order to get the most OEM look possible, that tan coating was redone before the paint layers.
The lower tie bar where the radiator sits was done in flat black.
Excuse the hand and finger prints, those were put there after drying, not permanent whatsoever. There's also a bit of dust that settled once the car was dried and rolled outside, also, not in the paint, wipes right off.
Next will be the underside of the hood, which will also be done in Matte. We'll then move onto jamming the targa, doors, and hatch in gloss IJM.
