COB's '94 Supra Turbo

I think this is the longest thread I've ever read from start to finish, I admire your dedication and ability to do something like this.
When I was about 14-15, which would have been around 1994-95, the 91 Land Cruiser my parents owned (wish I had that thing now) needed some service done at the dealer. The nearest one was a 2 hour drive so we drove up that day and spent about 5 hours waiting at the dealer to get the work done. On the showroom floor was a brand new Supra TT with a 6 speed. I just admired it all day, sat in it several times, opened the hood a few times, it was amazing. About an hour before we left in walks in this older man with a very attractive young girl. Turned out to be her father, and right there on the spot he bought that car for her to go to college in. I often wonder what happened to that car and how that went.
Can't wait to see the next stage of progress on this one!

Thank you Joshua! Yes, this thread is certainly getting to be a long one, but we're almost half way there!
I worked for a Mercedes-Benz dealer for 10 years... some of the cars that kids got out of high school blew my wildest expectations away. I, too, wonder what may have come of that Supra. Hopefully it went to a good home. I'm jealous that you had the opportunity to see one in showroom condition when they were still just coming out, that would be a sight to behold.

And then some! The factory got it the best, IMO, and the more factory parts, the better. This car spent more than enough time with a body kit.
I'm just about to post some updates, but it'll be a while until it's finished. Good news is that I've got several cameras and permission to be in the booth during paint! There's going to be some major visual candy.

The paint in the engine bay area is just as lustrous as I'd hoped. The outside, though, that's going to be a whole different ball game.
If you feel anxious waiting for updates, know that my house is stuffed with Supra parts and seeing them daily is a bit nerve wracking!
We continue forward with the hopes of getting the car into the paint booth before August's end. Here it is with the fenders and hood reinstalled. We still have a ways until the exterior is fully prepped.
Guide coat all around
This is 350 grit, next will be 600 grit.

This will be our line for the texture coating on the rocker panels. Note that the fenders are just placed on and not fully mounted. They do line up very well when fitted.

A little closeup of the prep.
Door handles need to be disassembled to paint properly. The last thing I want to feel behind the handle is roughness, it must be gloss the whole way around. The pin holding the spring mechanism was removed and will later be replaced with a metric bolt.

Texture coating - there's a pretty critical texture coating that runs along the bottom edge of each rocker panel. We did our best to find a suitable replica, this is what we came up with.

As mentioned before with water based paints - the paint will look different when dried. Here's some wet pics.
Curing... watch that paint dry!
We did some wetsanding on the exterior side of the door with 600 grit so there's some wetness that ran over to the painted side (after it dried, of course). I just can't resist jumping ahead.
