In anticipation of the car coming home, reality set in on the glass situation.
The front windshield was not original, and broke upon removal anyway, so that was a no brainer. Got a new one from Toyota.
The original rear windshield was scratched and the defroster grid was not functional. One new one left in the country, I got it. Packaging was supreme!
The original quarter window trims lost their luster many moons ago, looking quite out of place against the new trim targa and door trim pieces. I found a set of both quarter windows new from eBay, even the discontinued right hand side.

It is surprising to learn that Toyota stores their metal fuel tank skids without boxes. Each MKIV skid remaining is scratched and dented.
The one that I got was the best of the 3 left. It's got one dent and needs paint. The tail lights and rear bumper will be mounted once the new rear tank skid is fixed and painted.

Didn't tighten the release yet, I was moving it around for dynamat access.
Rear wiper boot
Bolts for the hatch bump stops. They are usually kept in quantity, these were scratched up. I gave them a quick coat of SEM Trim Black #39143.

With your attention to the details using new OE parts, matching factory paint scheme etc I'd rate it "as new out of box". Lol.
I would of been really really nervous bringing it home on open trailer, damn nervous.
I'm gona say when your car is done, if it was mine I'd have a hard time parting ways. Might be tempting if prices got $125K in the future.

No joke. It's a bummer that Toyota has not establish a Heritage program to continue the production of old parts. 3 of my Toyotas are now 25+ years old, and they all need things that just don't exist anymore.
The discontinued parts list grows daily

I agree, I would also regret selling this one, even if a restoration could ever command that much.
Just paid up for Flickr Pro since they cut off the 1TB free option, I'll get pics up hopefully within the day. Right now I've got a dash to pull

Lol, people can be fickle in the heat of bidding.
Was mine, person would have to offer a insane walk up price for me to part ways.

Yep, and the dealership that bought is here in Chicago. They bought it to keep in the showroom to bring in customers. Haha...I don't get the marketing logic, but OK.

I like to think that the dealership owner is a Supra nut and just needed the right excuse to buy it
I think they are the same cars from the Toyota booth at SEMA. That MKIV had the sweet mudguards and the little air guide on the wiper! Talk about CLEAN!

Back to where we left off...
Gotta get this thing on stands to get the subframes out.
The underside of the car is pretty dirty as you'd probably guess after 25 years.
The suspension bushings are in pretty fantastic shape for being 25 years old.
Just a quick test fit for one of the SBC Enkei RPF1's... the color contrasts well with the Imperial Jade.
Pulling out the struts revealed that the car has been sitting on a set of old school H&R lowering springs on stock Tokico shocks for the majority of its life.
Upon removal of the rear passenger side, it became clear that the control arm had been bent. Striking to find that the alignment had been able to compensate for the bend.
I have obtained a brand new OEM arm to replace it. Notice the funny looking red bushing... it ain't stock.
Gotta get this thing on stands to get the subframes out.

Dropping the subframe assemblies was fairly easy with the help of a friend.
Just going to drop these off here and see what happens...

The interior is in the way and must come out to progress to the next step.
- Interior removal
- Dynamat
Then we can progress to the undercarriage.
- Repair of floorboard damage underneath driver seat
- More dynamat
- Removal of automatic transmission tunnel, installation of manual transmission tunnel
- Matte black undercoating
Carpet and seats coming out.
Dynamat in the backseat area
Got sick of looking at the old OEM speakers, so before I pull the boxes to dynamat the inner quarter panel, a quick test fit of the new Rockford Fosgate speakers.
