Code 26 (running rich) and High idle

I have a 95 4runner, v6, manual. 170,000 miles

I posted a couple weeks ago with the same problem and am still stumped. I would appreciate any input as I'm mechanically inclined, but a noob to fixing cars.

I have a high idle, about 1500rpms when warm. If I snap the gas pedal, or give a little push the the throttle under the hood it will close and idle properly, but sometimes rough with a little bit of surge.

I am also getting a code 26, running rich, that comes and goes. Always seems to come on at idle, say at a stoplight.

A mechanic told me that my code 26 was a bad o2 sensor and that my throttle body was worn and I needed a different one to solve the high idle. He replaced the o2 sensor and my code 26 did not go away. He replaced the TB with a used one that seemed to function perfectly, but my idle does the exact same thing with the different throttle body. Two different TBs, same problem.:sobbing:

Does anyone have any ideas? The throttle cable is slack at idle, dashpot appears not be the problem, it isn't sticking. The TB that was taken out of the truck looks pretty new.

All of these problems seemed to creep up shortly after seafoaming the truck.

I'm stumped and these mechanics are raping me with fees and no problems are fixed.

Any help or direction would be greatly appreciated.

something that might help is pulling your sparkplugs and compair them with a sparkplug chart! another good thing to check while the plug out is that the gap between the two electrodes are at the corect gap! sparkplug gapping tools are cheap and easy to use!

another thing to think abot is your ignition coil is on its last legs! this is not likely but if you dont burn all of your fule you will burn rich!

try and look up solutions to fixing your code 26, that is if you havent all ready. start with checking your sparkplugs i am shure that you can find a photo digram like this one Verrill: Plug Color Chart
