Coilover and ride height

I was thinking about a recent thread about someone wanting to lower their 4Runner...

I was just curious how much travel some of these thread coilovers (ICON, King, Fox) have... I would presume they could be set close to factory, but can you actually lower a truck with the same coilover?

Desert season is over and I was considering upgrading my 6112 up front for next season. I figured it would be a little fun to play around with it before setting it up for off-road again.

So how low can you go?

Here is a picture of 700# 14" King coils on Icon coilovers with only a couple threads showing on the top of the collar. Stock rear springs and tire size. I'm assuming you can achieve 1/2" lower or more with stock coils. So just back to stock height. I don't think you can actually lower it with the stock Icon springs for example, but King has a large selection of springs with different lengths and weights so you could easily swap in a shorter spring of theirs and ride low.

Cool, thanks for that info.

I don't think I would spend additional money to achieve this over what I needed for my lift upgrade.

Even if I can't lower it I think it would be interesting to go back to a stock height for a little while with some street tires.

Kinda curious how it might ride with suspension like that. I suspect it might be really nice.
