Cold Air Intake performance

You know, when I installed my K&N Cold Air intake I knew I got some extra power and made it sound nice but I didn't think it was going to do this much for my gas! PHEW!

That's got to be the all time high from the trip computer. I thought seeing 30+ was good.

I think you're :toilet:

You're not telling the whole story... I can achieve 75mpg without a CAI, I know the first 55mpg improvement comes from dropping moth balls in the gas tank:lmao: Shame on you for not telling the whole story:D

Don't waste your money on a CIA !!!

It will maybe give better throttle response as a free flowing filter will do , maybe better milage as a free flowing filter will , but not enough to offset the cost.

The air intake is restricted by an MAF (mass air flow) sensor which will only allow the regulated air to go through so it mixes properly with the fuel. You also cannot open up one end of a can and not do anything the the other end of the can and expect it to flow out faster. (exhaust)

Now a CIA on a supercharged motor is a completely different story.

I speak from true dyno testing on a Dynojet , this is actual , not my seat of the pants feel or a guess .

HAHA!!! Okay so I'm not telling the FULL truth...I was going down a mountain when I got that. Still SOMEWHAT the truth! :lmao:

I do have other plans but need to do some saving first. I want to do an exhaust but I dont want to have it ruin my clearance. I already cut of my exhaust right after the axle so I would stop hitting it on rocks. I donno...

I've got pictures of doing the same thing, but just barely got 60 MPG. But changing the way I drive I now get an actual calculated 23.3-23.6 MPG.

I don't have a machine to test power, but saw evidence of the boost in the way the truck operated. In many instances the transmission didn't need to downshift to maintain vehicle speed on a grade or hill.

yup. when i modified my volant box to be a true CAI, i installed theyre dry filter & the JET sensor, works great for me.

i was using a brand new wet filter & started having problems .when i got to the point of stalling, i first removed the unichip2, didnt work, then i cleaned the MAP, & that solved the problem, but then felt less low end torque without the chip. so after a month of rough running , then stalling, i wanted no more trail & error, so i did both at the same time. i like the combination of the box mod & the sensor, its much better than the chip/open box combo,(& alot cheaper to do) but if i had to choose between which one to do first, it would be the box mod, it now only draws cold air from outside the engine bay. all i can say is , try it on any aftermarket cai, it certainly cant hurt.
