Cold Start - Winter is back!

Winter is back with a vengeance and we are seeing lows of -28*C. I've noticed that when leaving work there is a loud noise for about 1 second right after i start the truck. My assumption is that it's the power steering pump cavitating until the fluid starts flowing... ?

Anyone else notice this sound and should I be concerned?

I purchased the truck last January but last winter wasn't this cold...:nono:...:canada:

thats probably what it is. mine does it on very cold mornings or nights as well. my old trailblazer was much louder and lasted for several seconds before quieting down. don't think its anything to worry about.

I heard lots of whining this morning too, and not just from my kids.
—31 C here. Non-synthetic fluid at that temperature is going to be thicker than my Uncle Bob.

Good thing I grabbed my jacket on the way out this morning. It dropped to 75F this afternoon. And to make matters worse, there's a 70% chance of rain. The horrors of living in Los Angeles.
