College Football 2016

OK, trying to be as unbiased as possible, I honestly think this is how I'd do it:

1. Alabama
2. Washington
3. Clemson
4. Penn State

I know UW is not going to be #2, but if everything the committee keeps saying is true, then I do feel that's where they belong. They say that conference titles matter, eye test matter, SOS matters and that each week is its own week (that the previous weeks rankings mean nothing). I know OSU is one of the best 4 teams, but to me not winning the Big-10 championship as well as losing head to head to the team that did is more important if you are going to go by what the committee keeps emphasizing.

And why I put UW over Clemson is purely on the eye test. UW's only hiccup was against USC. Pretty much every other game (outside of Utah) was a blowout while Clemson has had more than their share of close games as well as a loss to an unranked team. Combine that with how each performed in their conference title games and that to me puts them above Clemson.

Here's what I feel like it will be:

1. Alabama
2. OSU
3. Clemson
4. Washington

Here's why it would be nice to see 6-8 teams. Outside of Alabama, you can make a strong case for Clemson, OSU, Michigan, Penn State, UW, USC and Oklahoma.

I was a bit surprised to see Clemson give up 35pts yesterday compared to our game with a 41-10 win over the buffs. Hepar I agree with your reasoning but in your second paragraph, you called it the way the committee selected the teams today. We all knew that was the away the committee was going to go. I was pleasantly surprised that we made it. There was so much talk about Penn State being deserving of a playoff spot I thought they may have bumped the Huskies out of there.

Great year for the Dawgs. Really proud of them and the way they performed.

Clemson got lucky to be where they are. If the NC State kicker would not have been so inept Michigan or PSU would be in the playoff. Clemson's defense has not been in the same league as the team on the field last year, their linebackers as a core aren't as strong.

Good luck against The Tide. Will be a UW fan that day for sure. The trouble is I am not sure the Browns could be Bama at this point.

I will again admit that there's a part of me that was rooting for the Rose Bowl. But I also feel they've got an honest punchers chance against them. They play well on both sides of the ball. They've got two threats at both WR and RB as well as a qb who can get the ball efficiently to either side. Downside is that Browning has shown that he can't throw nearly as well under pressure. Defensively, we are really strong as well, but are without our two best players (Victor at LB and Mathis at DL). Obviously we'd need a few things to go our way, but it is nice to be able to go into a game with nothing to lose. With no one expecting you to win, you can go out and just let it all hang out!

If Browning has a day against Bama like he did against the Golden Bears then your Huskies have a real chance at the upset. Plus UW has Petersen, who may pull another Statue of Liberty play out of the books.

One coach from LSU said Bama's controlled speed on defense was scary. I'd really love to see a rematch of USC vs Bama now, given how far the former has progressed during the year.

As a Buckeyes fan, I am glad to get to go after Clemson and see how good they really are. They didn't seem as impressive in their final game. Although that QB deserves all the credit he gets. Can't wait to see how JT stacks up against him.

All of you College Football fanatics, may you enjoy the games tomorrow! Here's to a big upset by the Dawgs in SEC country. Bama ain't seen anyone like Pettis and Ross! We got the big 300 pounders up front. Hurts with nine interceptions and 10 fumbles and the Dawgs with 33 take-overs! Anything can happen. Hope it happens tomorrow!!

I'm ready! Nothing to lose when everyone expects you to get blown out. And not only Pettis and Ross, but Gaskin and Coleman. Alabama hasn't seen a team with multiple playmakers both in the air game and the ground game. Could make it interesting. The one glaring weakness is Brownings inability thus far to be effective under pressure.

It is just amazing how much speed Bama has on defense. Plus they are rarely out of place. I was hoping UW could really stretch their defense but that didn't work.

We need seven points in the third quarter. It probably isn't going to happen. :doh:

Such a great game! Easily the most memorable game since the USC/Texas game. If you had told me that Alabama would be up by 10 and be +2 in turnovers going into the 4th, I would have said game over. Clemson did what no other team could and that's get their offense off the field quickly and repeatedly. By the end of the game, the 'bama D was gassed. You could make a strong argument that the Alabama D is better this year, but their offense was not and that ended up being the key difference. I don't know what Watson's future in the NFL will be, but he sure was fun to watch in college.

And as much as I want to be a UW homer and think of all the scenarios on how we could have beaten Alabama and been in that game, the bottom line was those were the best two teams.

Didn't get a chance to watch the game live, but that was incredible! I thought Clemson had a legitimate chance, until I saw the 10-0 score early on, and admittedly kind of dismissed it at that point. But I'm surprised that on the last scoring play with 6 seconds on the clock that Bama didn't intentionally hold the recievers, take the penalty and force OT. But that pick/rub play was awesome.

Glad Clemson overcame the odds and fought their way back to finish the job. Wonderful finish to a great story.

I didn't make it to work today, nor even the shower. I didn't see the bed till after 5AM. My rich friends who were there were able to party with the athletic board of directors and IPTAY (Clemson's athletic booster club). Jealous.

It is a great win for the program, the school, and even the state. The last championship in 81 I was three and the years following Clemson football were marred by improper recruiting and the like. Dabo is a clean guy, could be a preacher, great ambassador for the school like Chris Petersen is for UW. I can't tell you how having a great sports program attracts great students for the said universities.

The game was terrific. I may have some gray hairs now. 99 plays on offense worked in their favor. That and Scarborough breaking his bone.

Hate to see Watson go. I hope he doesn't end up in Cleveland. He should have won the Heisman.

Can't wait until September.

I had to go home and finish the good ol' college kid homework at the end of third. First off whoever scheduled the play-off game on the first day of school was not thinking straight. But anyways went home to finish some assignments so some day I make a decent enough living for my wife and kid so I can afford some of this sick stuff for the runner and woke up this morning and saw the last play on news and about lost my mind! What a win:trophy:

P.s. Not to resurrect the comments from September but yes Ty Detmer was definitely from BYU. He won the heisman back in 1990 and was our star for a couple years. It was nice to have someone bring a name to a school in my neck of the woods. (given I barely wasn't even born yet but minor details). Go BYU Cougs.:biggrin2:
