well this GA T4R owner is debating on possibly moving out to CO (Denver/Arvada area(ish)). Just need to find a shop to work for since don't know what the job market looks like out there especially in the automotive industry (would like to work for a small shop like I do here only issue is I'm not ASE certified but can do just about anything either way). any tips and what areas I should look at to live & work in? Also having lived in MA slightly used to ice/snow covered winters so not too worried on that front.

Moving to CO, I don't understand the "native" mentality, unless it has a lot to do with turning the state into another left wing Socialist Commiefornia, because the liberals have already managed to ruin and bankrupt THAT state and need new places to metastasize and destroy.

Then I can totally sympathize and would like to add to the population of Colorado's right wing, grumpy mountain men.

We moved from Florida about 6 weeks ago. There are tons of auto shops here, especially in and around Denver and the surrounding cities, so I imagine you will be able to find something. I will warn you though, housing is quite a bit different/pricier than what you can get in the south.

CO housing is expensive as hell.

In Floriduh you can find a beautiful house for 50-60% of what market value was a few years ago. Hell, on my crap salary I manage to live on several acres in north of Ocala for next to nothing.

In CO, they're at peak value. That and recent wildfires have driven people out of their homes for repairs and rental prices are through the roof.

We've already sold our Florida house, but buying property in CO is going to be pricey. Doesn't help that every city has Commiefornia style sprawl instead of responsible home building...

Also probably going to have a roommate to help w/ the costs too. Info is highly appreciated as I've never been to CO only CA and WA, but have had cousins and family friends lived in CO mainly for business reasons (cousin works w/ Outward Bound). Fun part will be getting my toolbox and all out there, lol.

Very true... in some areas you can't even touch a house under $400k. In FL/GA that would land you new construction 3500 sqft on a few acres in a nice area, or in a country club on a golf course or on the water in some areas. But I don't miss FL at all and I planned for that before taking the plunge. As far as cost of living, it's really not that much different outside the real estate market, which as you mention is still high... in fact it's one of the first states to reach a record peak since the bubble. I'm interested to see how sustainable it is.

You may want to visit first, during the Summer and Winter. I have no regrets but realize it isn't for everyone, which is a good thing in some ways. :wink2:

Lol I can understand as living in GA used to heat in the summer, but not too accustomed to cold even when I live in MA I didn't like going out in the winter unless I had to. But I do plan on making a few trips out there to get a feel for the area/s I plan on being in

That's good to know, I plan on making a trip out to the Denver area around Halloween time since a friend of mine keeps telling me to come out to see her (she's in the Arvada area). .

I stopped by Murdoch's (Santa Fe Dr. & Highlands Ranch Parkway) to pick up some crap for the house and noticed they had a few 48" Hi-Lift Jacks for $69.00. Not sure if any of the others around the state have them at this price or not, but figured I give a heads up to anyone looking.

My wife has been in Colorado for the past 2 months getting the house squared off and I'm going pretty soon.

I have to say that the liberal government has really turned the place around. I haven't been regularly since 10 years and ever since they've expanded all the medical marijuana bullshit, there are nasty transients hanging out everywhere aggressively panhandling, digging in trash cans and recycle bins and camping outside of the dispensaries trying to buy an ounce. Essentially all the garbage from the surrounding states has come into Colorado to buy pot for whatever imaginary medical reasons they may have.

Hickendoucher's idiotic gun laws have also been great. There are arbitrary 15 round magazine bans (so any P-mags are essentially illegal) and all gun sales now have to be through an FFL... which ironically has hurt their gun buy back programs because those have to be through an FFL, and what FFL would allow it? Altho I'm sure libtards would be willing to take away guns and break the law if it just gets one gun off the street...

The entire state now has a liberal government and it's totally devastating, it's becoming like Commiefornia. The only real hope is that there seems to be real support in recalling Morse (even if he is from Manitou Springs--which is like burning man on most days).

If you are talking about downtown Denver, yeah its been that way for a while... at least since I worked here in 2006. What's funny is that they bus the transients out for the DNC.

My suggestion is to stay outside the city. There are pockets of conservative, gun-toting, good ol boy areas that will pleasantly surprise you. I'm fairly happy in Castle Rock, but I think it's probably more prevalent up north.

Up here we should start seeing frost on the ground over the next several weeks. It typically snows a good amount once or twice before Halloween, but its a daily waiting game for the next few months. If you and the fam are up for a little weekend trip, try a drive to Crested Butte or around therabouts the third/fourth week of September. The changing aspen colors are incredible. And as far as snow....
