colorado folks - any suggestions for year round trails?

i'm getting anxious to get my rig on some trails.

i've spent quite a bit of time on traildamage.com, which by the way is a really cool site, if you live in colorado, utah, or arizona check it out. you can sort trails by water crossings, rock crawling, scenery, etc. and you can view every trailhead on a map.

the problem is that most trails don't open until june. i'd like to get up this weekend and have narrowed it down to the following:

slaughterhouse gulch
TrailDamage.com - Slaughterhouse Gulch

pickle gulch
TrailDamage.com - Pickle Gulch

ironclads
TrailDamage.com - Ironclads

any recommendations (either one of the above or otherwise)?

Normally in May there would be a ton of options, with the weather we have had and more heavy rains in the forecast I personally wouldn't get my hopes up. If you are going make sure you either have good recovery equipment or some friends along. I almost got stranded on a Mtn a few weeks ago on a VERY easy trail because of the rains and mud.

Great guys who I used to wheel with when I lived in CO - I miss CO trails.

They know a lot and you can find a lot of trails on their trip reports.

so, we did the slaughterhouse gulch loop. no snow and actually less mud than i expected (although there was some). sorry, no pics!

but - if anybody in CO is jonesing for some wheeling before the season gets in full swing, i would recommend it. some nice scenery and nice to get up in the hills. there were a couple fairly technical sections, but nothing too extreme (my TRDP handled it just fine).

FYI - the mud pits are closed and look like they have been for quite some time.
