combination switch

When I got my 4runner, the combo switch in it worked except for the bright headlights. Then it got to where the headlight part of the switch messed up completely.

I put in a used one, (not the same part #) and everything worked except my intermittent wipers. The wipers worked, just not on intermittent.

So now, the headlight section of that switch has began failing too. Should I just bit the bullet and order a new oem one? Or gamble on another used one (this time with the correct part#) I still have the original one and I am going to attempt to see whats wrong with it. I allready have the 4crawler link related to doing so.

Is it just my luck or is this a common problem? I realize the switches are antiques now That is why I am contemplating forking over the cash for a new one.

btw the one that was in the truck when I got it is part # 84310-35240. I assume it is the original , but when I search by my trucks vin on toyotapartszone, it tells me I need a different part # but I know it won't work because it does not have the intermittent wipers .:gun4:

The parts databases aren't totally accurate so get what you know is right.
Is the part even still available chroma dealer ?

The part # I need is available for about $225 new oem toyota part. As of right now I am attempting to take the two combo switches I have and making one fully functional one. That's the plan anyway.
