Coming Up: OW, Cooper STT 315/75/16, BL 1.5"

Well the mod bug has bitten hard, so over the next few months, I'll be doing some real upgrades. I've just about decided on the Radflo 2.0" front coilovers and 2.0" rear set. Since I don't have heavy bumpers, the shock diameter shouldn't be a concern. Also, the 4Crawler 1.5" BL will be a nice addition.

Also, after much debate, I've finally narrowed it down to Cooper Discoverer STT 315/75/R16 tires. I really like the look of the tread, but the main selling point to me is the section width = 11.92" where as the other tires I was looking at (BFG KM2s) have 12.3". I think this difference in width of the tires will help minimize some rubbing. Also looked at the Pro Comp Xtreme Mud Terrain and Goodyear MTR Kevlars, but the Coopers keep drawing me back in.

Looking at the Procomp Rock Crawler 152 Streetlock 16x8 wheels. I want real beadlocks, but they run about $300 a wheel, so these might be modified in the future to become real beadlocks. These have a 4.25" backspacing... I wonder if I'll still have to get wheel spacers with this setup??? Anyone know?

I'm ready to trim like hell, cut these body mounts, and join the 35" club. Let me know if yall think this would be a good rig when completed!

Yea man, it'll look great! You have about the same set up I am going to be running. I just ordered the OW Suspension yesterday and it is on its way! BTW the 2.5" kit is not necessarily made for the front bumper weight it is made for having extras like a roof rack loaded and a rear bumper and tire carrier to hold up in high speed desert runs because of the extra oil they carry. I wouldn't worry about the extra .3" of width on the KM2's; you are going to have to cut like crazy anyway. The KM2's might last longer, they might not; I would take a look at the Nitto Trail Grappler MT's, they look great and are going to last a while. Those wheels are nice, but you may want to think about 17's instead because with 35's that thing is not going to stop anywhere close to where it does now and you may want to eventually step it up with bigger brakes. You should go with at least 4.5" of backspacing, and no do not run the 4.25" with wheel spacers; that will most certainly be a beaner running down the road lol.

I looked at Black Rock wheels, which are almost identical, but theres come in 4.75 or 5.00 backspacing... so would 4.75" or 4.25" be a more suitable choice??

I think 16" wheels will be fine for me. I don't do much interstate driving, just around town. I'm going to upgrade the brakes if it becomes necessary. I wanted to stay on the smaller spectrum of the 35" tires, Cooper = 34.46"/11.92", to help with gears and braking as well. Don't know at what point gearing becomes a necessary upgrade, but I know some guys with V8s that don't re-gear. And again, I won't be doing much interstate driving!!

Just go with the 4.75 and a 12.5 wide tire and it would look good. If you go with the Cooper then get the 4.25. Either is going to look great!
