Complete Timing belt kit + water pump

Hey guys,

Next up on my car maintenance list is replacing the timing belt etc.

I've been hearing this kit from aircabinman is the best.

My question is, on average, how much should a mechanic ask for to install all of these? and how long does it usually take? Is it pretty easy?

Keep in mind that those aren't necessarily OEM parts, despite the title. The cam seals and crank seal for example are just three of the things not OEM Toyota, the water pump also being a remanufactured version and not a new one. I know, I bought two of those kits already not knowing beforehand. Personally if I were to do it again, I'd go straight to my dealer and get "gouged" or order from one of the distributors advertising here. At least you'll get what you want.

Either or, the job I think calls for 5.5 hours? (someone please correct me on that one if needs be) so, that times the labor should give you an idea. $250-400 is not uncommon from what I've seen.

i literally just bought the same kit yesterday for my wife's runner. its the same one I used on mine a while back and liked the kit a lot, its good stuff. i was able to do it in my driveway in about 7 hours, but that included making and remaking a tool to hold the dampener.

Ok so could you give me a link(s) to a kit that's actually genuine and works?
When they did an assessment of my car, there's no record of when the timing belt was replaced so that could come up in the near future. I'm just trying to be prepared financially by finding these parts online and just letting them install it for me.

The kit doesn't have to have all the parts from my first link.

Actually a guy named JRZEE2000TR4LTD posted on the link you gave me that he bought this kit and it works for him. It is actually cheaper. Toyota 3 4 V6 Aisin TKT 005 Complete 16 Pcs Timing Belt Pump Kit | eBay Any thoughts on that? Is the water pump the right one?

How did you get to that the water pump is re-manufactured? His AD states they are all brand new.

Either I got a pre-gouged Aisin, or it was a reman. Because all the marks all over the pump looks suspiciously like screwdriver marks, I'm assuming the latter despite the claims of a pump.




Sorry though, I don't really know anything else about other kits. I've only the bought the ones mentioned in my thread, so that's the only one I have direct experience with.
