By the way, I finally found an OK representative pic of my favorite carry piece online (she's a rare bird):

Mine has different sights though, and my frontstap has 32 lpi checkering on it (like the backstrap here). 4" SS bull bbl, Officer's grip length (still 7+1), Steel frame, and original Kimber extractor design (model I). Very accurate, reliable, and a GREAT trigger!!!

How do you like the rubber grip on the Glock? I have a G23 and I have been thinking about trying to improve the grip but you are pretty limited to what you can do to a Glock. I made the mistake of holding a Colt Defender the other day and I really want to get a feel similar to that.

Like was said before it has its ups and downs. It can catch your shirt sometimes (depending on the holster) and if it is not catching your shirt it is catching your skin. It doesn't annoy me enough to change. bbuuuttttt it makes the gun feel great in the hand. It works well as a grip, but it also makes the glock grip larger and easier to hold. It is great when I do tactical drills and running around. When your hands are sweating it makes it much easier to grab and starting throwing rounds down range.

There is another option besides rubber though... They make these stick on sandpaper like grips, I tried those and took them off the day I put them on.

Another option is do it yourself, called stippling. All you need is a soldering iron (6 bucks at wally world). And you can just go to town any way you like.

CO_fisher – Even though I have no good reason I want a 1911 BAD. Unfortunately for me they are expensive to purchase and shoot so it may be a while. Your Kimber sounds pretty sweet.

Hawkdog - I may give the slip on grip a shot. It looks like you can pick them up for around $10. I definitely don’t have the balls to take a soldering iron to the frame of my gun.

Some folks on here are pretty creative so I am curious to see how you guys carry your gun while driving. I have been thinking about trying to rig a holster somewhere with easy access and out of sight but I haven't decided where yet. Anybody do something under the seat or dash? There doesn't appear to be much room under the power seats on a 4th gen so I am looking for ideas.

I go back and forth between my Hungarian made PA63 and a Springfield XD40 subcompact. Both are light enough and very compact. If you are working on a budget the PA63 is very affordable $150-200 and very reliable.

Personally, I would never leave my gun in my truck unless the law prevented me from carrying inside where I was going. Then, its in the lockable glove box.
If I have my gun with me, it stays on me.

I agree. I've been thinking of mounting a holster inside the console to holster my pistol while on the road. It gets uncomfortable after a while on my side.

It's a Ross Leather Slide. I guess I shouldn't say it's uncomfortable.

Another reason for putting it in the console is that I wear it on my right side (seat belt buckle), and would have a tough time drawing quickly.

Currently carry a Taurus .38 Ultralite with laser sights.

However, at home sits my Glock 36 (.45 slimline, 6+1), and my #1, Glock 19 with 15 shot mags, lasermax and hogue grips.

Not to mention 2 shotguns, a Bushmaster Superlite .223, Yugo AK-47, and a 1944 Turkish Mauser from WWII

What do you guys carry as your conceal weapon?? (Of course, by law, this only applies to those with CHL license.)

For canceled carry and car gun I have Makarov 9mm. I like that it is double-action and I still have hammer control at the same time. It is small and is perfect for canceled carry. It is also very accurate for semi-auto handgun and it very hard to beat reliability of this gun.
