Confused - Is It Leather Or SoftTex?

Hello. I have a 2013 SR5 Premium with what appears to be leather seats. My window sticker under the Premium Package section reads that I have "leather trimmed" seats, steering wheel, and etc..

So my wife put Lexol leather preservative on the seats today, but it looks like the seats didn't totally absorb the preservative. I then read on this site that everyone talks about SoftTex and on Toyota.com, they only offer Leather on the Limited in 2014.

Are my seats leather or SoftTex? If SoftTex, I better clean the leather preservative off the seats.

Thanks.

EDIT: window sticker reads:" leather-trimmed and multi-stage heated front seats, 8-way power driver's seat with power lumbar support, 4-way power-adjustable front passenger seat, leather-trimmed second-row seat, leather-trimmed steering wheel."

If it isn't leather, how could they get away with this?

Not 100% sure, but I'd put $.05 that it is "SoftTex" ... Leather is only in the Limited from what I've read (though I could be wrong).

LOL I have wanted to use this, I wouldn't know either way but I'll tell ya...

:worthless

I'm sure if you posted a couple pics some 14' owners would recognize it ;):

.

Hmmm. Well my 14 sr5 premium definately has softex seats. The surface texture really isnt like any car seat leather I've ever felt at all. Though the stearing wheel does feel like leather. But I dont know for sure.

Leather trimmed seats? Maybe thers a strip of leather on there somewhere and I missed it :D

Just like it states in your quote above: "leather-trimmed".

2014 Warthog, My 2014 SR5 Premium has softex, and yes, the steering wheel is leather covered.

It is my understanding that they can put leather in any model. I told my dealership that I would only buy the tan interior if it was leather. They sent the one I was interested in back to the port and leather was installed. They even printed out a new window sticker that included the leather. I have a SR5 base

2013 sr5 premium came with real leather seats, the 2014 premiums are all softex from factory. Only 2014 limited comes with real leather.

You sure? I distinctly remember the conversation re "fake leather" with the salesman who I bought my 2013 from. Anyway, I'm really not sure it matters. Wait, yes I am. It doesn't.

Leather trimmed seats means the seating surfaces (the part your body touches) is leather. The sides, headrests, backs of seats are vinyl.

For the 2015 model, leather trimmed is ONLY available on the Limited. For the SR5 Premium and Trail Premium, these have SofTex. I've heard that we'll start seeing SofTex more often, as the claim is it's more comfortable than leather and is more durable (and obviously less costly to use). To be honest though, the SofTex is pretty damn close to leather.

Found this advice on the Internet:

"Take a pin or needle, poke it into the material- if it goes through the material with ease it's vinyl. If it goes through your finger it's leather."

Of course, you can find anything on the Internet. For free! [insert smilie here]
