Cons of lifting a 4th gen 4runner?

Hi guys,

i am a brand new member from Mongolia and want to say hello to all.
I have a question regarding the shock lift kit installation.

Is there any cons of installing a daystar lift kit to my 4runner.
I know alot of people have done it but i don't want as result of this kit some components of the vehicle is over stretched etc.

I am going to install the kit for looks and will not do any serious offroading (roads here itself are offroad worthy )

kit is bought from Amazon and 2.5inch in the front and 1.5inch at the back.
Your kind reply on this subject is much appreciated.

Maybe poorer MPG and gateway to spending more $$ on other mods...those are the only 2 "cons" that I can think of

You'll notice a decrease in miles per gallon, and you might need to replace the clamps on your CV boots in the front. Mine started leaking shortly after installing my Daystar spacers, I replaced the clamps and all is well.

100% true, exactly the position I am in now.

My cv boot clamps did not fail but the boots themselves tore. I assume because they were old and had new angles to deal with.

The Daystar 2.5/1.5 lift is a good start. I didn't notice a bit of difference in the ride of mine. Serious off-roaders will tell you to stay away from a spacer lift, but if all you are going for is the look, you will be fine.

My Daystar spacer lift rides like crap compared to how it was prior. That combined with the rubbing (LT275 70R17's I had on my 3rd gen) has lead me to purchase a real lift kit. If you can afford it and don't mind the other by-products of a lift (mileage, etc)....buy once, cry once. That said, I'll have some DS pucks on the market soon.

everything said about money is spot on. i started with a spacer lift. its an uphill battle to retain money after that. "budget" is always a relative term.

You're probably gonna want to upgrade the windshield wipers to be able to cope with all of the ladies undergarments that will be flung on your windshield when you drive by. Also, the mod bug is real and it looks like its taken its first bite out of you. Have fun

thanks for the input guys, still haven't decided on the lift the mention of the next mod is spot on i think as i am already feeling the urge to put a larger tyre if i do this. Thoughts after that are snorkel, roof rack etc
