Has anyone tried the RSG Metalworks Front Skid with KDSS? The pictures of the RSG front mounting bracket looks like it requires the removal of the tubular support brackets as it looks flush to the crossmember. Design looks very similar to CBI which is my first choice if it wasn't for their shipping costs.

Had the Victory 4x4 Front Skid delivered, but they changed their design recently and didn't account for the KDSS support brackets. Very frustrating and disappointing (sounds like they will be engineering the front skid to account for KDSS in the near future).

Anyone know what company makes a water reservoir tank skid? I have a C4 low profile front bumper and want to protect the tank if possible. Also if they exist will it fit and with the bumper I have. 2016 5gen.

Seems to me it's better to relocate the water bottle using one of the kits. The cover leaves supply lines and electrical exposed and easy to get yanked out

just ordered a set of the 4x Innovations Skids .

Spoke to Adam at 4x about the exposed bolts, and he advised that button head bolts are superior to the "protection ring" found on other mfg's skids as the rings have a much higher chance of getting caught on something.

i think this is a new product for the 4runner for them; dont recall seeing them before. i also have their sliders coming in as well.

i live in california, never really see snow. should i just primer/spray paint it black or should i go for a more substantial coat like por-15 or steel-it spray?

Im using the SSO one. Bolts on to the body mount. I know C4 has one too

Haven't seen the Ironman ones until recently. If they've been covered already I missed it. $599 shipped seems pretty good...except that the recommended retail price is $535. Not sure why they're marked up higher than MSRP for the USA market.

What I noticed most is that whoever is manufacturing these has a level above in tooling from everyone else except Toyota OEM. The stamped plate gives a lot of structure at a lighter weight. I wouldn't choose these for harder rock crawling duty. They look a bit weak around the edges for rock crawling and they don't protect the control arm mounting tabs/alignment cams. The alignment area cams have taken a beating on mine. That's something I regret not protecting better and I had to do a fair bit of repair there to re-form those back to shape recently. For normal trial duty I think they'd work pretty good and be a bit lighter than other options.

Those look solid. They offer a ton of coverage. The only issue I see is the exposed KDSS lines. They could use some protection.

Very true, if there was a sole fault, that would be it.

Should be a pretty easy fix if you have fabrication skills. Just a small bracket could be welded on to cover them. You could even just cut the OEM KDSS protection plate that it came with to fit against those skids and weld it on. That would probably be the easiest and cleanest way to go. Shouldn't change anything about how it installs.

Basically the very thin stock covers are not doing much more than being a dust cover over those lines. To mount our skids and sliders you don't relocate or move the stock KDSS lines. Also the skids provide the best coverage of any skid out there for the system as a whole.

Will the stock plastic lower radiator cover that fits between the lower edge of the stock bumper and the stock engine skid plate work with the RCI engine skid plate or does it require the RCI filler plate to cover that area when using the RCI engine skid plate?

Which of these has most straightforward installation (minimal removal of factory things)?

Also if you were going for a mild to moderate amount of protection for mild to moderate off-ing without going overboard or getting crazy spendy which pieces would you choose (front+transmission+transfer? More? Less? Rear diff seems to hang low?) looking at sliders now and this will be next I reckon.
