Use a voltmeter to find out which one is the power source. As for the license plate, why would you want the LED lights to be switched powered? It should be on when the tail light is on. Why not tap into the existing wires for the lights in the original spot?

Your right, it shouldn't be switched power, yes I want it on when the tail light is on, I was tired when I wrote this and not thinking straight. As for the power that was used originally for the plate lights, had I done the work, I would have done just that, but I didn't do this install unfortunately. I may attempt the CBI front winch bumper here in the near future. I was hoping that someone on here had an actual knowledge of the color code as I really want to know which wire is going to what and for what and a multi meter isn't going to tell me all that specifically, just constant 12v, pulsed etc. I understand what you are saying, just thought it might be something you would have here in a thread dedicated to this much lighting modification.

All, I am in need of some help. I swapped out the headlights in my 03 to 06's and upgraded to XenonDepot HID's (which are great and were easy to install). I also added halo's (like the dark knight t4r) and swapped out all halogens to leds in both front and rear. All is working great, with one exception. When my headlights are on, I do not get hyper flash, when they are not I get hyper flash on the right but not the left.

Currently, the Halos are wired to the parking lights, not the DRL as I didn't want to have them act as turn signal.

I have load resistors installed in the rear for LED turn signals.

So, I am trying to figure out why I am getting hyper flash only intermittently and how to fix it.

Any help would be very much appreciated!

If i wanted to run two different output bulbs in the rear gate (i.e. low light right side, high light left), is there any danger or problem with that?

I wanted to share and get feedback on light options and color.

Mainly I want a light configuration that works for camping. For me this means low level and warm - like the stock lights, ha ha.

But for curiosity I ordered and installed these yesterday.
For the dome and rear door (got 2 need 3):

They are certainly 6000k, slight blue. Bright with some glare. I think these will be perfect for daytime use and around town, but too bright for camping.

This is where I want ideas. I am willing to configure different colors and don't care about looks or style.

I am thinking of going to red for the map lights, maybe amber. Alternately have the drivers side map light be white as I don't use it when driving and the passenger side red.

For the dome light I am thinking of amber.

For the rear door perhaps one light white and the other red or amber. Or perhaps both amber.

For the lower side door lights I may leave white or go to amber.

Maybe amber all around.

Does anyone have experience with amber or red interior lights?

Be wary of JDM ASTAR festoons. Mine worked well for about 6-8 months, then would always start to flicker. They replaced the one I was having issues with, and 2 months later the other 2 started to flicker as well. I swapped one with the spare I had and it lasted 3 months before flickering. I gave up on warranty, swaps, threw them all away, and installed DDM Tuning ones instead.

Since then JDM has changed the chipset on the festoons, so you may be fine. Just a word of caution. The T10 bulbs in have in all the other lights are just fine, even though they're even older.

Which Lexus lights?

Having traded my '10, I'm now planning to retrofit the lights in my '18.

I'm soliciting info on which Lexus (sidemount) HID Bi-X projectors are a good replacement.

So far, I have these:

Big thank you to everyone on this thread for the amazing info!! I've owned several Wranglers over the years and lighting upgrades were always in my top 3 things to update. Definitely will be doing the same with my new 4R. Ordered most of the interior kit from Diode Dynamics and will be deciding on new fogs/lows/highs based on the advice and recos here.

Does anyone have experience with amber or red interior lights?

First thing I've done to my new 4R is interior lights. I decided on bright white LEDs for the domes, but red lower doors and cargo area. Main reason is that when camping etc I can turn the domes off and just have the reds on when opening doors, love that at night and I think if there are other campers nearby they probably appreciate it too!

My oem halogen low beams headlamps are unacceptable and am not interested in doing a "projector retrofit".

Are the "H11 Xtreme LED Pro Headlight Kit" the best option to improve my nighttime driving with my low beam projectors on my 2017 4Runner OR?

The headlamp conversion to an H9 seems like an "okay" way to improve nighttime driving but am not interested in that route either.

Your H11 Xtreme LED Pro Headlight Kit says it provides 1750 stable lumens which is an improvement over the oem 1200 lumens halogen bulb.

Only found one other alternative and that is a "Phillips H11 X-tremeVision" halogen bulb which purportedly has a lumen ouput of "1600 - 2000".

Am skeptical of the halogen bulb output from Phillips as earlier you claimed H11 bulbs are limited to 1200 lumens per DOT.

Would really appreciate your help as 90% of my driving is done at night as I work from dark-thirty to dark-thirty daily.

Most earlier posts you are quick to mention that HID kits (halogen) put out a lot more light. Am not interested in blinding other drivers on the road and only want to see the potholes on the road at night before I run over them. My previous '15 Tacoma lights worked great. The projector low beams, with oem halogens, on the new 4Runners are clearly lacking .

I run the philips crystal vision H11’s, Phillips led fogs and 40w saber pro LED highs. Pretty happy with this set up and have never been flashed. I also did the anytime fog mod so they don’t turn off when I hit the high beams. Just food for thought.

Philips doesn't give a lumen rating for their X-tremeVision halogen bulbs but I doubt the H11 ones are 1600-2000 lumens as for that to happen the wattage would need to be more which at that point would not be recommended.

If you're looking to slightly improve the output of your low beams then the Xtreme LED Pro kit would be great but if you are looking for even more light based on your needs then I would look into the Xtreme HID kit which works great on the 5th gen 4Runner because of the projector headlights as many other forum members can back up.

The crystal vision do throw more light than stock, I like them. The amber grill lights are Oznium bolt led’s.

Sorry it took me forever to respond to this. No, it looks like you have the most current info. I haven't heard of anyone successfully retrofitting with anything other than the various Lexus sidemounts.

Has anyone tried running H8 bulbs in place of their H16 foglight bulbs? They are only 35W but would have about a 60% increase in lumens. Base looks to be the same/similar and they have the necessary glare cap.

I was just thinking of this because some have said the 55W H11 is too much in the later plastic lens foglight housings. Those 19W H16 stockers are pretty weak though...

Hmm, I've never considered an H8 bulb as a replacement for my h16 fogs. I agree that that stock fogs are incredibly weak... especially now that I've replaced my low beams with the xtreme HID kit. The fogs just get washed out and don't do much.

I haven't been a fan of a lot of the LED options either. The light output is horrible unless you change the lens/housing too.

Anyway, I might run by Autozone on my way home and pick up a set to see if they're any better. Worst case, if they don't fit, I could just return them.

I'll post some pictures if I happen to get to it tonight.
