Use a voltmeter to find out which one is the power source. As for the license plate, why would you want the LED lights to be switched powered? It should be on when the tail light is on. Why not tap into the existing wires for the lights in the original spot?
Your right, it shouldn't be switched power, yes I want it on when the tail light is on, I was tired when I wrote this and not thinking straight. As for the power that was used originally for the plate lights, had I done the work, I would have done just that, but I didn't do this install unfortunately. I may attempt the CBI front winch bumper here in the near future. I was hoping that someone on here had an actual knowledge of the color code as I really want to know which wire is going to what and for what and a multi meter isn't going to tell me all that specifically, just constant 12v, pulsed etc. I understand what you are saying, just thought it might be something you would have here in a thread dedicated to this much lighting modification.
