Continental CrossContact LX vs. Bridgestone Dueler

Don't know about you guys, but the Bridgestone's that come stock on my 2010 Limited 2x4 suck! They are loud, rough, ugly and are as narrow as a toothpick. Not to mention Toyota is using a 7" wheel. What are they thinking? Anyway I'm changing over to a 275/55-20 Continental CrossContact LX. Has anybody tried this tire? Please post pic or review. Thanks!

I went with Bridgestone Dueller Revo's in a 275/55-20. I had the Revo's on a gen4 and was very pleased with them. Regardless of which tire you choose, you'll be much happier with the 275's.

I'm still a bit leery on this subject. Purely with online research, I was never able to find a 275/xx/20 tire made by any tire manufacturer that recommended a rim width of anything less than 7.5". Tire shops on the other hand want to sell tires and I don't quite trust the few stories I've heard on here. Looks are one thing, but I'm not about to risk mine or anyone else's safety for them.

This has pretty much been beaten to death on this forum. Apparently I'm living on the edge and taking my life in my hands every time I drive, but to each his own. All I can say is they fit fine, ride nice, handle well, no rubbing, or any issues whatsoever. That's the beauty of living where we do, I choose to put them on and others can choose not to. Live and let live.

Here's what I know. I've buying tires and rims from the same guy at the same tire company since I was 16 (he owns a Tire Pro's franchise). I am now 40 so do the math. Anyway...I asked him this 275 on a 7" wheel question and he pretty much laughed at me. He said no way. This is a myth. A 275 fits a 7" wide rim with no problem what so ever. My guy is extremely knowledge. In my entire life when friends or relatives needed tires and weren't sure I always sent them to him and he's not been wrong yet and he's never not beatin someone else's prices.

My goal at the end of the day is to simply have a better ride and not look like a wuss going down the street in a really nice SUV. I ordered the Continental's, but are on back order. Seems like it is a highly wanted tire. I'll post pics once they are on and my OEM rims are powder coated black. Should look pretty cool once I'm done.

Not in that size, but my wife had the CrossContact LX on her Tacoma. I picked it based on the great reviews on Tirerack. The tread melted off it; it was past the wear bars in 15,000 miles.

Would not buy again.

tell that to the insurance company when you have an accident and they deny payment for putting the wrong tires on. this topic has been discussed before earlier this year. you dont put 275s on the limited rims unless it says its for 7 inch wide rims. and last I checked was that general grabber HTS and continental crosscontact LX allow for 7 inch rims..(both made by same company i believe)

Heygenius right there with ya! Can't wait to put my 275's on so I can drive a death trap too. I'm having my rims powder coated black at the same time as putting the new tires on so I'm hoping to post some really nice pics. Next I'll be blacking out all the chrome and color matching the door handles to the Magnetic Grey color.

I had CrossContact on my range rover sport, hands down the worst tire ive had the pleasure of using. 10,000k started to show real poor wear. They were 255/50yr19 mounted on 19" x 9" rims , good in the rain and REAL poor in the snow and sand. I changed them out for Pirelli Scorpion ATR 255/55/R19 and it made a world of difference. Now I know they are completely different tires then what you are getting, just giving you a heads up what I and countless other RRS owners thought of the continental tires. And yes I would not buy them again......ever.

It's really funny. In all my years of buying tires and I've had over 15 cars in my lifetime there are those who have 100% positive results and there are those who have 100% negative results no matter what the manufacture or consumer reports say. Looks like the tire business is not an exact science. I'm going with the Conti's for now. If the tire takes a complete dump in a short amount of time I'll just go back to my tire guy and have him swap them out for a different tire. The main reason I'm going with this tire is, because the manufacturer actually shows it fits a 7" wide rim and supposedly it's good for 60,000 which is 20,000 more than my ugly Bridgestone Dueler that's on there now. Wish me luck. I will definately keep you guys up to speed on the performance of the Conti. Thanks again for all the feedback.

I think that uncertain result because the same brand but they could be made at different plant around the world and they use local raw material.

I had some Continental Cross Contacts LX 20 put on a couple weeks ago.
About $150/ea at Sears. Unit is a 2010 SR5 with Dunlop Grand Trek that lasted 49K with a leased owner. I bought my vehicle in August 2014, purchased from a dealer.

The new ones have a 720 treadwear rating and 70K rating. Very comparable to a Michelin for less $.
They are very quiet running and track well, no balance issues. Haven't had a good MPG review yet but they perform well in the wet. Should be good for light snow <6-inches but they're not snow tires anyway.
